GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Epic EHR Testing Coordinator, the Testing Analyst actively participates in the development, moderation, and execution of integrated and regression testing for Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) clinical and business applications and reports. This role supports unit, application, and user acceptance testing by providing resources such as test patients and suggestions, demonstrating a commitment to quality, meticulous attention to detail, and proficiency in testing techniques to ensure system reliability in a healthcare environment. The Testing Analyst collaborates with cross-functional teams, adheres to testing standards, and contributes to process improvements, building foundational skills for future opportunities within the information technology domain. PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Provide input to test planning for integrated and regression testing, supporting the Coordinator in defining scope, approach, and timelines. 2. Develop, document, and moderate test scripts for integrated and regression testing within the testing compendium, ensuring alignment with requirements, workflows, and system designs. 3. Execute integrated and regression test scripts, documenting results with precision and clarity. 4. Support unit, application, interface, and user acceptance testing by creating test patients, providing suggestions, and assisting application teams as directed. 5. Collaborate with application teams, interface analysts, application embedded testers, and cross-functional testers (e.g., DAP, IT, third-party applications) to support test script development and execution for integrated and regression testing. 6. Track and report test progress, status, and defects to the Coordinator, ensuring timely communication of issues and outcomes. 7. Support defect resolution by documenting issues, retesting fixes, and providing feedback to application teams. 8. Conduct root cause analysis for assigned testing tasks, proposing continuous process improvements to enhance testing efficiency. 9. Maintain awareness of industry trends in test automation and AI-driven testing technologies, while keeping a pulse on the tactics of other epic clients, preparing for future adoption under leadership guidance. 10. Maintain the testing compendium, ensuring accurate and accessible test scripts and artifacts. 11. Promote testing standards and best practices within the team, adhering to established processes and methodologies. 12. Engage stakeholders with clear, precise communication, asking targeted questions to clarify requirements and resolve testing barriers.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: * High school diploma or equivalent required. College coursework or a degree in healthcare informatics, computer science, or a related field preferred. * Minimum of two (2) years of experience in one or more of the following domains:
- Technical Expertise: Experience in software testing, debugging, or technical
support, with the ability to articulate workflows and processes associated with IT systems. - Clinical Expertise: Knowledge of clinical workflows (e.g., inpatient, ambulatory)
and familiarity with IT solutions supporting patient care. - Revenue Cycle Expertise: Understanding of bed management, registration,
scheduling, professional/hospital billing, medical records, or coding, with a focus on IT-integrated workflows. * Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to ask precise questions and engage stakeholders effectively. * Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills to ensure accurate test execution and issue identification. * Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. * Diligent, results-oriented work habits with a commitment to quality. Preferred Qualifications: * Familiarity with Epic end-user workflows, with the ability to align test scripts with clinical, revenue, or operational processes. * Understanding of third-party system workflows (e.g., diagnostic imaging, data analytics platforms, interoperability solutions) to support effective test script development. * Experience collaborating with project managers to align testing tasks with project deliverables and timelines. * Familiarity with project management methodologies (e.g., Project Delivery Methodology, Agile) to enhance test coordination. * Awareness of test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, QTP) or AI-driven testing technologies to prepare for future trends. * Knowledge of healthcare compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA, HL7, FHIR) to ensure testing meets regulatory requirements. * Familiarity with data analytics or reporting tools (e.g., Epic Reporting Workbench, Tableau) to support test documentation and reporting. * Awareness of testing certifications (e.g., ISTQB, Lean Six Sigma) as a foundation for skill development.
