POSITION SUMMARY

The purpose of this position is to develop and manage the systems, processes, procedures, and logistics of planning of manufacturing resources of manufacturing work and work order management for all production operations pertaining to each specific trade within our current shipbuilding strategies. This includes implementing departmental objectives that meet the strategic, competitive, & internal needs of MMC, and developing appropriate controls with performance measures to assist in & monitor the accomplishment of those objectives. The functions of this position include managing the product breakdown into intermediate products for all new work, work order generation & release to work centers, data input for all work order information, resolution of production planning-related issues related to information and material, and the development of production control processes, and productivity/cost standards. Monitor the establishment and maintenance of a 30, 60, 90-day detailed vision with the aim to pull work load according the general plan of the yard and to ensure the work for the capacity expressed by the number of the people on the field. The manager has to develop the overall manpower plan for the respective trade; identify and work with HR on the needs in terms of staffing; make sure that the material is available and kitted to support the production process; detailed schedules are available; KPIs are developed and updated at a work station level; planning/budgeting and engineering are complete and that their products are of high quality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



  • Control the (operational & financial) progress of the respective trade's operations and to elaborate corrective actions to recover (in collaboration with relative manufacturing management)
  • Coordinate, prepare and roll-out (in collaboration with Manufacturing leadership) the allocation and deployment of the yard's resources and production headcount, via analysis and validation of the workloads
  • Develop, in accordance with Schedulers and based on input from relevant manufacturing workshop leadership, detailed activity programs for the respective workshops and review and confirm progress on a weekly basis, owning the relevant AOP meetings/rhythm
  • Communicate to Planning Assistant Director and PP&C Director key deltas and trends versus each program's plan, proposing recovery actions where and when needed
  • Quantify, control and review progressing both for in-house activities and for outsourced activities, in collaboration with subcontractor management team, workshop leadership and relevant manufacturing leadership
  • Perform periodical cause analysis of main variances in cost and schedule of the activities under control, proactively proposing corrective actions to all interested parties (eg. Manufacturing, PMO) and rolling out all necessary adjustments to work order release plan and other relevant activities
  • Support Scheduling Group leadership during the development of the Master Schedule and the decomposition of the activities
  • Manage the work associated with preparing, producing, releasing and post-release monitoring of work orders.
  • Manage and participate as necessary with others in management to facilitate production planning work and resolve planning-related issues.
  • Ensure all support to Manufacturing logistics are supported
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of SOPs for all production planning work and assure that proper planning procedures are being used, that input from schedulers, engineers, and operations is being appropriately utilized and accounted for, to review production plans and work orders.
  • Interface with Manufacturing to assure production plans are good and work order sequence priorities are being met and reported against the appropriate KPI matrices.
  • Interface with Purchasing to resolve purchased material issues.
  • Interface with Engineering to develop product structures, bills of material and work orders and resolve related issues.
  • Support PMO efforts regarding proposal development and responses to customers' inquiries related to production planning issues.
  • Support PP&C's Estimating Manager in activities related to major funded changes and/or bids, such as the development and validation of cost estimating standards or the overall preparation of a proposal or bid.
  • Develop internal department process metrics to determine whether we are in control.
  • Must abide by and enforce all organizational policies and procedures.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises 5 to 10 employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Demonstrates leadership skills that align with the mission, vision, and values of the Company.
