Performs both administrative and clinical functions to support smooth and efficient clinical service or practice operations, under minimal supervision. Performs administrative duties related to patient visits including scheduling, check-in, check-out duties (performs all duties of the other levels at highest proficiency level). Job duties may change day to day. This position does not require direct patient care.
Essential Functions -Perform routine administrative and clerical duties relating to a clinical service or physician practice office. Make new and established patient appointments and maintain appointment records. Assist callers with routine inquiries and appointment troubleshooting questions. Process patient billing forms and scan documents to patient medical record/LMR. -Acts as "Super User" for scheduling, registration and billing systems, provides assistance and training to others in these areas. May perform more complex or specialized functions (i.e. surgical scheduling, schedule changes/blocking) at more advanced competency level. -Provides functional guidance to Office and Practice Assistants. -In conjunction with Supervisor oversees daily activities of practice staff. -May be required to accept co-payments and self-payments. Appropriately handle, screens and/or takes messages related to prior authorizations, provider questions, prescription refills, and test results. - At any given time may be asked to cover and train in other areas of the clinic including front desk, IVF procedure unit or other Ambulatory OBGYN clinics. - The senior practice assistant will also be responsible for ordering office supplies. - The senior practice assistant may be asked to cover the front desk, new patient coordination, donor egg program coordination or work on various clinic projects and record keeping.
