Responsibilities

What you will be doing as a WASHER TECHNICIAN:

  • Sets up, adjusts and operates laboratory equipment and instruments such as microscopes, viscosimeter, chemical balance scales, colorimeter, Ph meters, Conductivity meters and other equipment.
  • Tests solutions used in processes such as cleaning and pickling for chemical concentration or other characteristics.
  • Tests samples of manufactured products to verify conformity to specifications.
  • Records test results on standardized forms and writes test reports describing procedures used. Prepares graphs and charts per the ISO - 9001 Standards.
  • Cleans laboratory equipment. Calibrates laboratory instruments.
  • Prepares chemical solutions according to standard formulas.
  • Tests daily the pre-treatment system and adds chemicals or raw materials to process solutions or product batches to correct or establish formulation required to meet specifications, per work instructions.
  • Schedules and plans the preventative program and the dumping schedules.
  • Employee should understand the functions of and maintenance of anodes, ultra filters, chillers, and rectifier's on the ecoat system.
  • Employee should be able to do Ecoat post rinse cleaning and bacteria checks.
  • Employee will be responsible for the safe handling, transfer & labeling of Hazardous Waste as detailed in the annual RCRA training class.
  • Employee should be able to discuss the primary concepts of the E-coat system and its relationship to the paint line. Trouble shooting system problems and recommending solutions is an expectation of this position.


Qualifications

What it takes to be a WASHER TECHNICIAN with MEC:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or six to twelve months related experience and/or training is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Demonstrate strong mechanical comprehension and ability.
  • Candidate required to take notes detailing shift problems and corrective actions.
  • Familiar with basic process control.
  • Shows an understanding of basic plumbing concepts.
  • Ability to gather and maintain accurate records.
  • Must maintain a clean and orderly laboratory and work area.
  • Possess computer skills.
  • Willing and able to follow detailed procedures in a variety of work environments.
  • Position requires a dependable self-starter willing to get the job done with minimal supervision. A good attendance record is required.
  • Possess an understanding of basic E-coat/paint cosmetic issues.
