Position Summary
The College of Engineering Lab Supervisor will be responsible for maintaining the Machine Shop and related equipment for the Mechanical Engineering Department.
Responsibilities include: ensuring that supplies are available and equipment is in good working condition, ordering all laboratory materials, maintaining up-to-date documentation, rental of equipment, and providing instruction and assistance to faculty, staff and students on the use of equipment. The incumbent assists with student-design projects and machining functions.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
* At least 3 years of directly related experience
* An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities
* Ability to build and maintain experimental setups
* Expertise in basic electric and electronic repair
* Expertise in CNC machining
* Demonstrated ability to operate lab equipment
* Ability to effectively interact with a diverse population of students, faculty and staff
* Demonstrated ability to make independent judgment
* Excellent customer service and organizational skills
* Ability to supervise student workers
* Ability to run a machine shop
* Ability to operate and maintain specialized heavy and/or sensitive laboratory/scientific equipment and machine tools.
* Ability to work in a wet or humid environment exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals with appropriate personal protective equipment
* Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions
* Ability to work nights/weekends/early mornings if necessary
* Ability to work overtime if needed

Preferred
* Experience in machining
