HAVENWYCK HOSPITAL (a UHS facility)

Havenwyck Hospital is a Joint Commission-accredited and licensed psychiatric hospital, overlooking Lake Galloway in Auburn Hills, Michigan. We specialize in providing comprehensive, compassionate behavioral health services to children, adolescents and adults. Havenwyck Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented licensed Lead, Social Worker to join our team of compassionate and dedicated clinical professionals.

The Lead Social Worker provides social services to patients in his/her assigned program under the direction of the Director of Clinical Services and Clinical Services Manager. The Lead Social Work is responsible for the maintenance of Social Work standards of practice, credentialing, and in-servicing of Social Work staff, and acts as a liaison to the Director of Clinical Services in maintaining the quality of Social Work Services.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinates Social Work role with the Nurse Unit Manager to facilitate the therapeutic milieu.
  • Provides individual and group supervision to staff to ensure that high quality clinical services are provided to patients.
  • Provides clinical consultation to other treatment team providers as requested.
  • Provides direction and assists with management of difficult and/or complex patient discharge plans.
  • Provides social work services including evaluation, treatment planning, discharge planning & case management to patients & their families as needed.
  • Records and charts in the medical record as needed.
  • Ensures clinical records are accurate, timely and meet regulatory requirements by completing chart audits.
  • Acts as a liaison for hospitalized patients to various community agencies and resources.
  • Attends treatment team conferences, milieu meetings, and unit meetings.
  • Attends Department of Clinical Services meetings on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • Receives clinical and administrative supervision from the Director of Clinical Services or Clinical Services Manager, as needed.
  • Collects and maintains statistics as directed.
  • Serves on any committees to develop policy, program, and procedures.
  • Assists in scheduling weekend and contingent Social Work staff
  • Works a personal schedule tailored to the needs and objectives of the department and organization.
  • Reports regularly on status of social work delivery to the Director of Clinical Services.
  • Evaluates all social workers with the assistance of the Director of Clinical Services
  • Assists Director of Clinical Services in interviewing for hiring.
  • Coordinates Performance Improvement activities for patient treatment program. Responsible for the timely completion and compilation of all Social Work Performance Improvement Monitors and Performance

Qualifications

  • Master of Social Work degree from a school of Social Work accredited by the Council of Social Work Education required.
  • Current License in the State of Michigan as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), LLMSW, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or LLPC required. Fully Licensed Social Worker (LMSW) preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years post-graduate experience in a clinical setting providing direct patient services preferred
  • Knowledge of or experience with patients' rights, advanced directives, adult and child abuse laws and emergency detention required.
  • Demonstrated ability to act as a leader in a clinical setting and as member of a multidisciplinary treatment team required.
  • Experience with patient assessments, family motivation, treatment planning and communication with external review organizations (i.e., managed care, Medicare, Medicaid) or comparable entities preferred.
  • Experience with care management model of service delivery as well as substance abuse treatment in acute care settings strongly preferred.
  • Two (2) years supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience on an inpatient psychiatric unit preferred.
  • Good standing within the organization (employment/corrective action history, evaluation, etc.) required.
