A Taste of What You'll Do

Maintenance Technician level 2, located in Healdsburg, CA at Frei Winery as a rotating shift (every 6 weeks)

Join our dynamic team as a Maintenance Technician and play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of our winery's equipment. We are seeking individuals who are passionate about problem-solving and committed to continuous improvement. As a key player in our maintenance team, you will lead machinery troubleshooting efforts and meticulously document repairs, showcasing your attention to detail. Your expertise in replacing and repairing defective parts will ensure our equipment runs smoothly, while your ability to reassemble and test machinery for conformance to specifications will maintain our high standards.

This role involves working on diverse projects, from emergency maintenance calls to planned operations. You will disassemble malfunctioning equipment, examine mechanisms, and calibrate instruments, ensuring everything functions within specified standards. Your technical prowess will shine as you interpret technical documents and interact with vendor contractors, ensuring compliance and quality are upheld. With your dedication to occupational safety, you will foster a culture of safety, providing constructive feedback to your peers.

Your hands-on skills will be vital as you perform electrical installations, plumbing, and welding operations, maintaining pumps and drive systems. You will troubleshoot alarms related to key winery systems and provide preventative maintenance for barrel processing, bottling line, and filtration equipment. Your commitment to maintaining shop machines and facilities will support our operations across departments.

What You'll Need

  • High School diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 4 years of maintenance experience working on equipment or industrial motors and pumps reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Associates degree or 2-year Technical Degree in Mechanical or Automotive Maintenance and Repair plus 3 years of maintenance experience working on equipment or industrial motors and pumps reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, production, industrial mechanical or automotive environment.
  • Required to complete and maintain certifications as assigned.
  • Depending on work location may be required to work a rotating shift/schedule throughout the year (day, swing, graveyard, 5x8, 4x10); required to work weekends and overtime when necessary.
  • Candidate is required to have a valid driver's license, a safe driving record and reliable vehicle (if applicable) at the time of hire. This position will undergo a motor vehicle check (MVR) to confirm a history of safe and responsible driving. If needed, candidate must obtain the appropriate state driver's license based on the position's location within 30 days of hire.
  • Required to conduct work at heights.
  • Required to lift and carry tools and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Required to work in a tight and confined space.
  • Required to provide own basic hand tools.
  • Experienced in reading and comprehending simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Experienced in writing simple correspondence and procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical concepts.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics.
  • Skilled in the use of MS Word, MS Outlook and MS Excel at a basic level.
  • Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
  • Required to be 18 years or older. This may be in addition to other age requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

How You'll Stand Out

  • Industrial trade experience to include Refrigeration and HVAC.
  • Project management experience.
  • Basic understanding of PLC's.
  • Experience with maintenance management software; data entry and basic PLC troubleshooting skills.
  • Skilled in forklift and aerial lift operation.
  • Experience working in a food and beverage manufacturing facility.
  • Knowledge of drinking water and waste water systems.
  • Experience maintaining and repairing large production equipment.
  • Operates well in a team setting.
  • Experience writing reports and procedures manuals.
  • Skilled in reading electrical schematics; possess PLC skills.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
