Job Summary |
Auburn University Facilities Management is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented
Sign Technician to join our team. This position is responsible for performing a variety of duties related to the
installation, removal, maintenance, and repair of signage across university property. The ideal candidate will have experience working with a range of sign types and materials, a strong understanding of safety protocols, and a commitment to supporting the visual and functional needs of the campus community.

Essential Functions |
LEVEL I
- Assists in the creation of signage using equipment such as vinyl plotter, engraver, and flat-bed printers.
- Assists in the installation of signage to monument signs, door directories, building exteriors, street signage, and coroplast sheeting.
- Assists on removing and installation of sign poles and banners campus-wide.
- Assists in preparing and installation of street marking paint on roadways and parking lots.
- May assist with pressure washing sidewalks and parking lots on campus.
- Demonstrate the basic abilities to use hand and power tools such as post hole digger, augur, shovel, drill, leaf blower, etc.
- Demonstrates a basic understanding of ADA standards and regulations pertaining to interior signage and parking lot signage as well as parking lot spacing.
- May perform other related duties as assigned.
LEVEL II

- Demonstrates a working knowledge of ADA standards and regulations pertaining to interior signage and parking lot signage and parking lot signage as well as parking lot spacing.
- Responsible for pressure washing sidewalks and parking lots without supervision.
- May perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications |
Level I- High school diploma or equivalent
Level II- High school diploma or equivalent plus 3 years of experience with installing, repairing, and maintaining a wide variety of signage to include: vinyl, metal, and various other types of materials used in the sign making process.
Substitutions allowed for Experience:
Degrees accepted in lieu of experience for advanced levels, at a rate of one year of relevant education per year of required experience

Level I-Duties require basic physical and mental skills and abilities, including use of hand tools, power tools or other equipment and use of basic math or reading skills.
Level II-Duties require basic or advanced physical and mental skills and abilities, including use of hand tools, power tools, heavy machinery or other equipment and use of basic or intermediate math, reading or writing skills. Duties may require personal protective gear and/or knowledge of special safety or regulatory procedures.
