Our client is a stable, well-established OEM manufacturer specializing in industrial water treatment equipment, including water softeners, filtration systems, reverse osmosis units, and custom pump skid solutions. They are experiencing continued growth and are seeking an experienced Applications Engineer to join their team.
This role offers a unique opportunity to use and expand your engineering, project management, and customer-support skills in a collaborative environment focused on delivering high-quality engineered water treatment systems.
Position Summary:
The Applications Engineer will support both the engineering and sales functions of the organization. This includes application design, troubleshooting customer inquiries, developing sales cost estimates, preparing quotations, generating engineering documentation, and producing CAD drawings for piping and equipment. You will also support project coordination, part requisitioning, and the preparation of manuals and submittal packages.
Candidates should have strong technical aptitude, the ability to manage multiple projects, and the interpersonal skills required to work effectively with customers, colleagues, and vendors.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop application-specific system designs and assist with engineering solutions for water treatment equipment.
  • Provide technical support to customers, including troubleshooting, application recommendations, and system functionality questions.
  • Prepare cost estimates and assist in generating sales quotations.
  • Produce Bills of Materials (BOMs) from engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Create submittal documents, operating manuals, and system documentation.
  • Generate 2D AutoCAD drawings for process piping, equipment layouts, and customer submittals.
  • Requisition parts and coordinate with internal teams to support project timelines.
  • Plan, budget, schedule, and coordinate assigned projects.
  • Assist customers with installation, start-up, or troubleshooting via phone or other remote communication methods.
  • Maintain accurate records, engineering documentation, and project files.
  • Support ongoing process improvements, internal collaboration, and team initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field;
    OR an Associate's degree with equivalent applications engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of process piping systems, materials, fabrication procedures, and standard pipe practices.
  • Experience with reverse osmosis system design and general water treatment equipment is a strong plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); MS Project experience preferred.
  • Ability to generate accurate Bills of Materials.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills; able to balance design tasks, sales support, and project coordination.
  • Excellent attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, professional, with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Experience collaborating with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Working knowledge of 2D AutoCAD LT/2016 required; AutoCAD 3D and/or SolidWorks experience is a plus.
  • Ability to support customer needs with installation, start-up, or troubleshooting guidance remotely.
  • Demonstrated teamwork, cooperation, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience planning, coordinating, and executing engineering projects.
