Position Overview:

The Wastewater Treatment / Raw Water Systems Engineer & Supervisor will provide day-to-day reliability, maintenance and engineering support to the wastewater treatment plant and raw water systems associated with the Charleston Plant. The position requires experience with process mechanical systems, including process vessels, piping systems, pumps, agitators, mechanical seals, valves, mechanical integrity, etc. The individual will provide support to maintain and improve the reliability of systems in the facility including data gathering, failure analysis, troubleshooting, and development of preventive maintenance procedures

How you will impact Ingevity:

  • Provide maintenance, reliability and engineering support for day-to-day issues, including troubleshooting and process improvements related to equipment and systems.
  • Collaborative leader, supporting area operations with a strong Safety, Environmental and Regulatory compliance mindset
    • Supports the development and design of equipment and processes to meet system needs
    • Improve reliability of mechanical systems, reducing cost, and optimizing run time.
  • Identify, develop, and improve maintenance programs and systems
  • Collect and analyze site reliability performance data.
  • Identify, improve, and update spare parts list.
  • Help scope and execute capital projects related to WWTP and RWS systems.
  • Make recommendations for process improvements and facilitates capital expenditures in support of the area's operations, safety, environmental, maintenance, quality, equipment reliability and cost reduction objectives
  • Ownership of area Incident Investigations, Process Hazard Reviews, and associated action items
  • Supports the development of and facilitates training for operations group in implementation of operating procedures, safety/environmental protocol, and new/revised processes and equipment
  • Research and develop new and improved methods in support of the facility's continuous improvement and sustainability initiatives.
  • Attend plant reviews and operations meetings as needed and make presentations
  • Participates in plant committees in support of safety, environmental, organizational, quality, and manufacturing objectives
  • Supports planning and directing production scheduling and maintenance activities as needed as well as maintaining these activities within budget

What you need to succeed:

  • Degree in Mechanical or similar Engineering field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant industrial experience or an additional 3 years of relevant industrial experience in lieu of degree
  • Experience with maintenance and engineering coordination / support, materials management, and environmental control systems
  • Good organizational, planning, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
    • Knowledge of drawings including mechanical detail drawings, fabrication drawings and P&ID drawings.
  • On-call availability required.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills, problem solving/troubleshooting skills, and written/verbal communication skills required
  • Work and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and our customers' organizations
  • Demonstrates high commitment to safety, environment, compliance, quality, and customer satisfaction
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and Responsible Care, promoting Safety, Health, Environmental and Security as well as Quality adherence and continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with management of change, process hazard analyses, and PSM covered processes required
  • Experience with contractor management.
