We are seeking an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Professional for a 6-month contract with the possibility of becoming a permanent or similar full-time position for our client in Yazoo City, Mississippi. Alternatively, this new hire may continue in a full-time role as part of EnSafe's nationwide EHS team, supporting projects at other client sites across the U.S.

What We Are Looking For

This new hire will be responsible for developing and implementing EH&S programs, procedures, and training to promote a strong culture of safety, maintain a healthy work environment, and ensure compliance with all corporate, local, state, and federal EHS requirements.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Managing site activities to achieve EHS goals and objectives.
  • Implementing applicable EHS programs and procedures to ensure compliance with corporate, local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  • Driving and promoting a safe culture and employee engagement throughout the site.
  • Using established EHS data processes to manage and report data such as injuries and illnesses, environmental metrics, risk assessments, action items, and other pertinent information.
  • Analyzing safety data to lead and coordinate the safety effort for continuous improvement.
  • Conducting and completing inspections and audits regularly to detect existing or potential risks and hazards. Ensuring recommended corrective/preventative measures have been completed promptly.
  • Ensuring contractors and subcontractors have implemented an effective safety process by conducting pre-qualifications and by regularly visiting/auditing work in progress.
  • Authoring incident and near-miss reporting. Perform root cause analysis on incidents and injuries to determine specific actions needed to prevent their recurrence.
  • Developing and implementing programs for pollution prevention/sustainability.
  • Completing risk assessments and recommending control measures for all potential areas of concern.
  • Managing the safety data sheet and new chemical request process.
  • Serving as the primary EHS contact for all facility EHS concerns.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences/engineering, Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent).
  • 3-7 years of experience with an emphasis in health and safety management or equivalent experience in a technical environment requiring adherence to strong health and safety practices.
  • Strong ability to lead, motivate, engage, and influence others.
  • Good computer skills in MS Office, particularly Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Must be meticulous with strong organizational skills and ability to work in a team environment within a complex reporting matrix.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and 5S concepts is preferred.
  • EHS Certification, e.g., CHMM, CSP is preferred.
