The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Solution Engineer with a strong understanding of Lap Automation processes to join our Gene Therapy research organization in Philadelphia. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the automation of laboratory workflows and a comprehensive understanding of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) systems. This role requires an individual who can effectively bridge the gap between scientific requirements and technical implementation, translating scientific needs into robust technical designs and overseeing the full project lifecycle from implementation to rollout.

In this role, you will:

  • Technical Design & Implementation: Translate complex scientific needs into robust technical designs for lab automation solutions.

  • Project Management: Supervise the implementation and rollout phases of laboratory informatics projects, ensuring successful integration and user adoption.

  • System Integration: Integrate laboratory automation systems with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) systems.

  • Workflow Optimisation: Identify opportunities to optimize laboratory workflows through automation.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with scientific teams, IT, and vendors to ensure successful project delivery.

  • Troubleshooting & Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting for lab automation systems.

  • Global Alignment: Act as a key liaison between local scientific teams and global information/technical specialists, facilitating clear communication and ensuring alignment between local and global technical solutions.

  • Continuous Development: Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and best practices in laboratory automation, informatics, while understanding the basics of gene therapy research.

Who you are

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Bioinformatics, or a related scientific field.

  • Several years of experience as a solution engineer in the automation of laboratory workflows.

  • Comprehensive understanding of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) systems.

  • Proven ability to translate scientific requirements into technical design specifications.

  • Experience supervising the implementation and rollout phases of informatics projects.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical and scientific concepts to diverse audiences.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges.

  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Preferred

  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python) and workflow automation tools is desirable.

  • Experience in a Gene Therapy research organisation is of advantage

This opportunity needs to be based in Philadelphia, and relocation benefits are provided

The expected salary range for this position, based on the primary location of Pennsylvania, is $99,800 - 185,400 of hiring range. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
