Job Summary:

The Grease Route Driver completes an assigned list of duties and services that Darling Ingredients offers in an allotted scheduled time slot, operating a grease collection truck that collects used cooking oil from customers. Driver is required to have a Class A CDL to utilize the equipment needed to finish that given day's route.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Responsible for keeping all require logs and paperwork as needed, both paper and electronic
  • Responsible for correctly operating any commercial motor vehicle safely obeying all traffic laws and DOT regulations.
  • Ability to pump and load grease containers and ensure the cleanliness of the surrounding area, noting any damage as needed and obtaining signatures from customer.
  • Ability to professionally communicate with management, drivers, vendors or any other person encountered during the course of a work shift.
  • Will be expected to be an integral part of the fleet team. An ability to communicate, conduct yourself, and be a professional at all times is a must for this position.
  • Required to use all safety equipment as assigned.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Due to DOT regulations and nature of the work, candidates need to be at least 21 years old.
  • We require candidates to have a CDL Class A license with tanker endorsement due to the type of work and DOT requirements.
  • Due to the nature of the work being done, candidates will need at least 2 years of experience operating a vehicle similar to a grease route truck.
  • Per DOT requirements, candidates need to also be registered on https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov/

Preferred Qualifications

  • Due to the nature of working on a route, having prior route experience within a customer-oriented environment would be preferred.
  • In this role, having basic tractor and trailer maintenance experience/knowledge would be helpful.
  • Being familiar with the equipment you are using and being able to do a thorough pre-trip and post trip of the equipment would be preferred.
  • In this position, candidate will need to be able to use basic math and writing skills.
  • Having an understanding of traffic laws along with DOT regulations related to the commercial vehicle you are operating would be an advantage.
