Crayola Entertainment Performer - Part Time

PURPOSE: To create an innovative and fun family entertainment utilizing specialized skills and abilities to ensure a positive guest experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Entertain Crayola Experience and Mall of America guests in a professional and welcoming manner.


  • Provide outstanding internal and external guest service.


  • Support the Crayola brand's educational mission to use the arts as a tool for intellectual and emotional development of children.


  • Facilitate and perform the Crayon Factory & Cafe stage shows.


  • Represent Crayola Experience and Mall of America with highest degree of professionalism.


  • Perform to highest standards and act appropriately for family audiences.


  • Ensure that the Crayola crayon materials are well stocked and in working order for next show.


  • Safely operate machinery and learn to troubleshoot and make minor adjustments to ensure quality products are being produced.


  • Contact maintenance and supervisor when mechanical assistance is required.


  • Facilitate art projects and activities with guests.


  • Assist in workshops, special events and outreach activities as needed.


  • Interact with guests wearing Crayola mascot characters (Tip & Pip).


  • Maintain cleanliness of work environment.


  • Cross train to other MOA and Crayola departments, and willing to regularly be assigned to assist.


  • Work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, evenings, and high-volume days.


  • Additional duties as assigned.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:



  • Must be at least 16 years of age.


  • Excellent guest service and interpersonal skills.


  • Ability to engage guests, children and families in an upbeat, positive manner.


  • Prior experience in a museum, educational setting, guest service center or family attraction preferred.


  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with guests.


  • Able to work within the character costume, i.e.: not claustrophobic or overly sensitive to excessive heat.


  • Comfortable with public speaking.


  • Able to memorize a script.



PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the team member will frequently be required to speak and listen to guests in order to understand their needs and communicate a solution. Team member must also possess a level of hearing that will continuously allow them to be aware of their surroundings and recognize when a guest needs their attention. Specific vision abilities required by this job include frequent close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, low light vision, and ability to adjust focus. Team members are required to be able to tolerate multiple sensory stimuli at once while performing their duties. These stimuli may include: loud auditory/noise, smells/olfactory, bright lights, colors, motion, and other visual stimuli.

  • Twist: Occasionally, about 35% of the time


  • Reach above shoulders: Rarely, about 5% of the time


  • Reach at or below shoulders: Infrequently, about 25% of the time


  • Reach at/below waist: Occasionally, about 50% of the time


  • Dexterity: Continuously, about 90% of the time
