Job Summary:
|
The Assistant Director in the Center for Advising & Academic Services plays a key role in supporting student retention and academic progress by managing academic restrictions, reviews, and student and advisor programming. They coordinate advising assignments, handle academic exceptions, and support departmental operations. This role requires problem-solving using established policies, organizing work independently within guidelines, and collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders. Delivering high-quality customer service and demonstrating strong computer and software proficiency are essential to effectively assist students, colleagues, and other constituents.

Minimum Qualifications:
|
- Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
- Experience with Banner processing, and Microsoft Word suite, including Outlook required.
- 3 to 5 years experience in professional academic advising, academic support services, or related field required.
- Strong interpersonal communication, organizational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to work independently, and professionally required.

Essential Functions:
|
- Manage the office's early alert system and advise students on academic restriction, including reinstated students, and those identified for additional support, and/or referred by faculty and staff.
- Utilize Banner system to coordinate and track advisor assignments for all undergraduate students.
- Assist with the University's academic review process and in approving academic exceptions and/or deadlines.
- Organize and implement academic skill development workshops for students, faculty, and staff.
- Research and manage departmental best practices for internal and external websites.
- Assist in day-to-day department operations in the absence of Director.
- Other duties as assigned.

Master's degree in a related field preferred.

- Typical eligibility requirements: 1 year of service and 1,000 hours with Marist University.
- 403(b) Tax Deferred Annuity - Roth option available. Voluntary, up to IRS maximum contribution.
- Tuition Benefits:
- Up to 16 undergraduate credits per semester. Up to 18 graduate credit per academic calendar. Eligibility extends to employee, spouse, and dependent children under age 26.
- University pays 100% tuition only.
- Eligible dependents may be Reimbursed up to $2,000 per semester towards tuition at another accredited institution.
*Eligibility requirements including waiting periods and/or employee probationary periods may apply at the discretion of the University.
