The Northfield Police Department is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a full-time Property & Evidence Technician. This is a civilian position critical to the department's investigative success and integrity.

Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, document, process, and store evidence and property
- Maintain strict chain-of-custody and legal integrity for court use
- Transport evidence for forensic testing; respond to subpoenas and testify in court
- Assist officers and investigators with evidence tracking and crime scene support
- Perform crime scene documentation, photography, and evidence analysis
- Manage firearms returns, forfeitures, and ATF tracing
- Handle requests from attorneys, courts, and other agencies using digital evidence systems
- Administer facility access systems and assist with building security video exports
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's degree plus 2-3 years of relevant administrative experience, or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates equivalent skills
- Valid Minnesota Driver's License
- Strong computer proficiency and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or related field
- Current or previous work in a law enforcement environment
- Certification as an Evidence Custodian or Crime Scene Technician
- Experience with CJIS systems and/or other evidence/property room operations
