Overview

Illinois CancerCare is seeking a reliable Courier to join our team, ensuring the smooth and timely delivery of prescriptions, specimens, and essential supplies within our service area. Your role will be pivotal in maintaining our high standards of patient care and operational efficiency.

Schedule: Part-time, 1-2 days per week.

Hiring pay range: $15.00-$17.00 per hour.

Responsibilities

  • Collects payments for delivered prescriptions as needed.
  • Assists practice with deliveries of lab specimens, mail, documents, and xrays to and from Unity Point, or OSF/St. Francis, as well as other local businesses.
  • Assists with pickup and delivery of soiled linens to commercial cleaners.
  • Develops delivery route minimizing time and mileage between deliveries.
  • Maintains accurate delivery and vehicle records.
  • Assures delivery vehicle is kept maintained in a timely manner.
  • Delivers occasional missing or unexpected medications to satellite clinic offices.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned/requested by the Director of Pharmacy Services, the Retail Pharmacists, or the IV Prep Supervisor.
    • Additional duties:
  • Works additional hours when requested;
  • Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested;
  • Reports to work area on time and remain available throughout the work day;
  • Communicates to outside facilities in a courteous, helpful manner;
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Observes OSHA and facility policies and guidelines;
  • Cleans pharmacy equipment, utensils, and work areas.

SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Requires full range of body motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Routinely lifts and carries items weighing up to 20 pounds and occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. May require working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Occasional exposure to toxic substances, including chemotherapeutic, cytotoxic drugs and cleaning solutions. Interaction with patients, staff, and physicians.


Qualifications

  • Must possess a valid Illinois Driver's License with a good driving record.
  • A high school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • Familiarity with delivery routes and proficiency in map reading.
  • Experience with computerized mapping and scheduling tools is a plus.
