Location: Remote, USA

Compensation: $110,000.00-$120,000.00

Summary

The Senior Quality Engineer 2 builds on the tactical capabilities of the previous level with deeper modeling, stronger documentation of risk, and better alignment with cross-functional stakeholders. This engineer engages in test modeling activities like flow analysis or boundary mapping, contributes to critical integration test plans, and drives quality storytelling from test to release. This role acts as a mentor to junior engineers and a partner to automation. Our company provides Corporate Performance Management (CPM) software for large corporations. Our product is designed for high-end deployments at customer facilities or in the Microsoft Azure cloud. The core engine contains complex OLAP-type, multi-dimensional, multi-server, multi-threading, web, and SQL technologies and is specifically designed to solve problems for the Office of Finance at extremely large corporations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities



  • Conduct risk analysis and test modeling activities for features or integration points.
  • Design and lead charter-based exploratory test efforts in sprint and during hardening.
  • Document and communicate quality observations in support of release readiness.
  • Identify repeat issue patterns and help propose upstream resolution tactics.
  • Collaborate with automation and development teams on effective boundaries and coverage.
  • Support continuous improvement of team testing methods and documentation.



Required Education and Experience



  • 6+ years in software quality engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience in modeling test scenarios for business-critical workflows.
  • Familiarity with test design heuristics and boundary condition coverage.
  • Experience validating multi-source or multi-step data transformations.
  • Experience querying and verifying data with SQL or similar tools.
  • Direct knowledge of Azure cloud or similar.
  • Ability to configure, execute and review automated testing systems.
  • Ability to derive and seek information from observability tools.



Preferred Education and Experience



  • 7+ years in quality engineering.
  • Participation in integration test strategy and sprint planning for high-risk areas.
  • Coaching or mentoring in quality methods or modeling.
  • Hands-on validation experience in finance, analytics, or OLAP-based systems.
  • Technical certification in Azure, Kubernetes or similar.

  • Comfortable building and explaining test models and risk evaluations.
  • Influences sprint quality outcomes through collaboration and critical thinking.
  • Seeks feedback and can mentor others in test design and execution practices.
  • Communicates risk clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Recognizes patterns in defects and proposes sustainable improvements.
