Safety & Occupational Health Policy Advisor Concurrent Technologies Corporation Arlington, VA Minimum Clearance Required: Secret Clearance Level Must Be Able to Obtain: Secret Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC), a nonprofit, mission-driven organization dedicated to delivering innovative solutions to advance national security and readiness, is seeking an experienced Safety & Occupational Health Policy Advisor to provide expert-level support to the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD). This role focuses on shaping and aligning Department of Defense (DoD) safety and occupational health (SOH) policies with strategic goals, ensuring regulatory compliance, and enhancing mission readiness across all Defense Components. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in federal and DoD SOH programs, have prior experience at the GS-15/O-6 level or higher, and demonstrate a strong record of advising senior military and civilian leadership. This position offers the opportunity to influence enterprise-wide safety and occupational health policy, support interagency collaboration, and contribute to national defense priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide high-level support for OSD-level safety and occupational health policy, oversight, and advocacy initiatives.
Align DoD safety and occupational health programs with strategic plans, goals, and objectives to enhance mission readiness and workplace safety.
Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in DoD safety and occupational health policies, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and industry best practices.
Collaborate with senior DoD officials across Military Departments and Defense Agencies to support policy development and integration.
Deliver direct administrative and policy support including coordination, reporting, and documentation activities.
Facilitate working groups and enterprise-wide SOH collaboration efforts across DoD Components.
Provide technical guidance on OSHA and DoD SOH program requirements, including compliance, reporting, and recordkeeping.
Support strategic planning and long-term development of safety and health policy at the enterprise level.
Represent OSD in interagency working groups, federal committees, and stakeholder engagements.
Identify policy gaps and recommend strategies for continuous improvement and risk mitigation.
Prepare and deliver high-level briefings, presentations, and reports to senior DoD leadership on safety and occupational health trends, risks, and strategies.
Draft and contribute to the development of DoD issuances (Directives, Instructions, Manuals, Memoranda) related to safety and occupational health.
Support preparation of responses to congressional and media inquiries, reports, and testimony as required.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field (Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Safety Engineering, or related discipline).
Minimum of 12 years of relevant professional experience in safety and occupational health within a federal or military environment.
Experience working at the GS-15 or O-6 level (or equivalent), preferably within a DoD Component or comparable federal agency.
In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, federal safety standards, and occupational health compliance in military settings.
Proven track record in advising senior leadership on SOH policy development and strategic planning.
Demonstrated experience in interagency coordination, stakeholder engagement, and high-level regulatory compliance.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex technical and policy concepts for varied audiences.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree or PhD in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, or a closely related field.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent credential.
Prior experience supporting DoD safety and occupational health governance.
Experience shaping high-level federal regulatory or policy frameworks related to safety and occupational health.
