Job Summary

The primary role of the LCSW is to serve as an integral member of the comprehensive team providing a full range of evidence-based social work services that are patient-centered and guided by the patients diagnostic conditions, cognitive, psychological, and social determinants of health. The LCSW will provide therapeutic counseling, coordination of resources, and offer patient and community education. The incumbents demonstrated expertise in social work principles, community resource navigation, insurance problem-solving, and service coordination for ongoing care will be essential. The incumbent will also contribute to clinical research efforts by joining the HTC's research and quality improvement team. This includes obtaining patient consent, executing research protocols, compiling and submitting research findings, and presenting research at relevant meetings. #CA-SB

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • California Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
  • Valid California Board of Behavioral Sciences License Clinical Social Worker license without restrictions.
  • Master's degree from an accredited school of Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field; with one year experience in a health or social service field.
  • Two years of clinical social work/direct service experience post-licensure within an acute care hospital setting.
  • Demonstrated experience obtaining and documenting a comprehensive psychosocial assessment.
  • Demonstrated skill and proficiency using the current DSM manual for clinical assessments.
  • Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of individual, child, and family development, human behavior, communication, cultural influences, social work practice, psychotherapy, case management, and the integration of social work with medicine.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of child, elder abuse, and domestic violence reporting requirements, as well as relevant legislation (e.g., Tarasoff, patient confidentiality).
  • Demonstrated ability to make appropriate interventions based on legal, ethical, and policy considerations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in assessing suicidal behavior, determining lethality, and developing safety plans while maintaining compliance with California mandated reporting regulations.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills for building and maintaining effective relationships with co-workers, patients, and the public.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle interactions with patience, courtesy, and professionalism, even in challenging situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a team within a multidisciplinary clinical setting, emphasizing respectful and cooperative communication.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills to resolve differences in a cooperative spirit, create mutually beneficial solutions, and effectively communicate within the clinic team, other UCDHS departments, external associates, and patients.
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and capable of working independently, managing schedules, meeting deadlines, and completing documentation or projects promptly without sacrificing quality.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain strict adherence to patient information confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and familiarity with community resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and interpret clinical situations, applying theory in case management and psychotherapeutic responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide consultation, interpret clinical findings and diagnoses, and make treatment and care recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to use clinical supervision to enhance professional growth and examine clinical work.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with a diverse group of individuals at all levels within the organization.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the legal implications of clinical practice and documentation.
  • Demonstrated advanced level skills using EMR/Epic, Microsoft Office Suite, and Invision as applicable to the position.

  • Demonstrated experience working with bleeding and clotting disorder population.

The UCD Hemostasis and Thrombosis Center (HTC) is a federally funded, registered treatment center offering comprehensive medical, psychosocial and ancillary specialty care to persons with rare inherited bleeding and clotting disorders. The HTC Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) is located in the Cancer Center and C Street clinics within the Division of Hematology Oncology.
