Summary:

The Director of Annual Giving and Gift Planning plays an integral role in advancing MaineHealth's ambitious goals to increase annual giving, planned and outright gifts for the system. This role will participate in the day-to-day management of the annual giving and planned giving support team, providing leadership and mentorship to a developing team. Will also manage special initiatives and help to set the strategy and operating plan to reach ambitious fundraising goals. The Director plays a critical role in building effective working relationships with other frontline staff, donors, and prospects and providing technical and strategic guidance across the system as well as working directly with donors, prospects, and advisors.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree required.
  2. License/Certifications: Strong knowledge of annual giving strategy and planned giving vehicles and structures.
  3. Experience: Minimum of 8 years of successful fundraising experience working with high net-worth donors on complex tax and legal planning.
  4. Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Knowledge of tax laws, emerging strategies and developments in gift planning. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to persuade and negotiate with peer-level department heads and/or advisors, attorneys and donors. Analytical skills to resolve complex HR, legal, financial or administrative problems that require the innovative application of the highest levels of specialized knowledge and/or develop financial and operating plans. Ability to be highly collaborative in a complex environment. Ability to exercise good judgment and ethics in handling confidential donor information and materials with sensitivity and discretion.
