Short Intro and About the Job

At Danone, Manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams. We are currently looking to hire a Production Director based in our West Jordan, Utah manufacturing facility!

The Production Director will oversee manufacturing operations and directly supervise department leaders, work closely with the plant director to direct and manage the day-to-day operation of the facility, and coordinate the manufacturing activities of the plant to ensure customer orders are received, scheduled, and produced; to utilize plant capacities and optimize manufacturing costs, quality, and safety.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

    Recommending and implementing the short- and medium-term production strategy in order to deliver to the market the agreed products and optimize the resources required (labor, materials, flows, ...) within a good social climate
  • Driving accountability within the team and self to implement and follow Danone Integrated Work Systems (IWS) principles
  • Driving cultural change by leading initiatives from the organization engagement survey results
  • Ensuring all safety rules, plant rules, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and code of ethics are followed by employees, supervisors, customers, and visitors at all times
  • Monitoring the SQCDMN (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Mobilization, Nature) performance level of the Production Unit
  • As a member of the leadership team, contributing to the general improvement of the site
  • Providing sound administrative direction of subordinate departments including Packaging, Processing, Flow, Planning, and others to ensure that objectives and goals are met and that employees are managed effectively responsible and accountable for production facilities quality compliance, efficiencies, overhead, packaging and ingredients, operational budget, and profit and loss statements.
  • Coaching and counseling leaders using IWS principles. Works with this focus to define plant goals and plans to meet these goals with this group.
  • Creating, developing, and sustaining a "can-do" climate and high levels of frequent communication, cooperation, rewards and recognition, training, and mutual support among departments.
  • Demonstrating an adequate understanding of plant machinery; equipment; processing; blending; extraction; shelf-stable products, quality, and/or other requisite technical knowledge to engage in overall direction, meaningful conversation across functions, and leadership of managers across the plant.
  • Demonstrating clear integrity and a sense of ethics and responsibility to the plant and its employees daily, serving as a role model for others.
  • Responding effectively and work cross-functionally within the organization particularly with other plants and corporate leadership.
  • Effectively partnering with Human Resources and others in a union environment
  • Performing in a variety of capacities related to employment decisions throughout the employment life cycle. i.e., hiring, performance evaluation, retention, employee relations issues as appropriate etc.
  • Understanding and managing as appropriate capital project expenditures and/or the implementation of capital projects
  • Effectively implementing, improving, and reinforcing the company's environmental health and safety programs and product food safety programs.

INTEGRATED WORK SYSTEMS (IWS):

Ensure adherence to plant standards (including but not limited to GMP, AIB, FDA, IWS, Quality, Safety, Finance, ISO, CODES, Daily Direction Setting, Driving OE). As a fundamental piece of the organization, your responsibility is to participate and own the implementation and development of Integrated Work Systems (IWS) and its pillars (Leadership, Loss Elimination, Progressive Maintenance, Education & Training, Supply Network, Initiative Management, Quality, Environmental Health and Safety, Autonomous Maintenance, Organization) with the objective of owning your space, owning your performance (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Mobilization, Nature) and 100% Ownership and Zero Loss.

About You

PREFERRED CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S. degree and or equivalent experience required - preferable in engineering, business, food science or related field
  • 8-10 years production management experience and leading production teams
  • 2+ years UHT dairy processing experience a plus
  • Prior consumer packaging experience required
  • The ability to establish and react to changing priorities
  • Experience with budget and cost management
  • Strong influential ability; ability to interact successfully with all levels of management.
  • Strong problem-solving skills; ability to make decisions with limited information and to handle uncertainty and successfully implement change.
  • Experience of implementing continuous improvement processes (Lean, TPM, ...) particularly for improving reliability of equipment
  • Detailed knowledge of processing systems and packaging equipment
  • Ability to prioritize plant operations in light of multiple priorities and conflicting demands.
  • Strong knowledge of GMP's - to include regulations which govern food products
  • Knowledge of safety policies and procedures regarding chemicals, equipment/machinery
  • Excellent negotiation skills. - including an ability to understand sensitive situations
  • Engaged leadership style that develops leaders
  • Team player with the ability to lead and participate in cross-functional teams.
