Assistant Athletic Performance Coach

Summary

The Assistant Athletic Performance Coach will report to the Associate Athletic Director of Athletic Performance for Olympic Sports while developing and executing strength and conditioning programs for Women's soccer and Men's Swimming.

Duties

80% of time

• Develop strength and conditioning program for assigned teams and student-athletes. Collaborate with coaching staff on program development.
• Teach proper training techniques in the weight room and on field for improved athletic performance.
• Supervise and instruct year round strength and conditioning program for University of Minnesota intercollegiate athletic teams.
• Cooperate and collaborate with athletic training staff in the rehabilitation of athletic injuries.
• Prepare and teach warmup and cool down sessions for pre-practice and pre-game for women's soccer including travel for away games and practices.
• Manage athlete monitoring devices, collection and analysis of data for applicable teams
• Assist sports nutrition staff in education of athletes on proper nutrition and oversee distribution of peri-workout nutrition.
• Prepare and oversee recovery and regeneration workouts.

10% of time

• Assist in the overall supervision of weight room facilities including ensuring proper maintenance of equipment and monitoring compliance of safety procedures.

10% of time

• Maintain knowledge and understanding of, and adhere to, NCAA rules related specifically the on-going performance of duties within an NCAA Division I program.
• Maintain knowledge of current trends, practices and techniques related to strength and conditioning programming.
• Perform administrative duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science or related field
• 2-3 years of work related experience
• Strength and conditioning certification that meets NCAA requirements for Division I, e.g. CSCS, CSCCA.
• Assist in the advancing the department's mission, vision, and strategic plan including its commitment to equity and diversity.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Exercise Science or related field
• Minimum of 2 year of experience specifically with soccer
• Experience using and interpreting Catapult Wearable Technology or similar monitoring system

Pay Range: $50,000 - $52,500 annually; depending on education/qualifications/experience
