PPG seeks an experienced Environmental Health & Safety leader. Join our team of passionate professionals and lead the way in EHS excellence.

As the EHS Manager, you will lead a comprehensive Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) program across PPG Traffic Solutions facilities in Salem, Oregon and Bakersfield, California. The facilities manufacture a variety of pavement markings used to make our world a safer place.

Reporting directly to the Traffic Solutions EHS Senior Manager, you will collaborate closely with EHS colleagues, manufacturing, technical, and engineering teams to deliver a consistent and unified EHS strategy. Join us today!

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion efforts to foster a safety culture and employee engagement consistent with a "One PPG" EHS approach.

  • Ensure compliance with Federal, State, Local and PPG requirements and policies.

  • Drive injury prevention, spill elimination and sustainability in the areas of waste elimination, energy conservation and water consumption; provide leadership and direction for EHS training; oversight and completion of the industrial hygiene program.

  • Provide incident and injury investigation, incident reporting management and case strategic direction and oversight for the facility; Workers' compensation management.

  • Evaluate the EHS impacts of capital projects and assure EHS risk assessments are completed.

  • Provide oversight, audit readiness and mentorship for compliance audits and corrective action management.

  • Lead site security, fire prevention and emergency response.

  • Ensure compliance with environmental permits.

  • Oversight of the Waste Management Program (Hazardous, Non-Hazardous, Universal).

  • Maintain site security, emergency response and contingency plans.

  • Assist development of leading indicators that drive continuous improvement in sustainability metrics (energy, water, waste), spill incidents, injuries and the EHS Management System.

  • Drive key safety initiatives including Job Safety Analysis, safety observation, site safety risk assessments, risk mitigation, and Management of Change.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering or related Science field.

  • 5+ years of demonstrated EHS experience in manufacturing or related industries.

  • Expertise in change management and building a safety culture through influence and engagement.

  • Strong knowledge of safety and environmental regulations and consensus standards (OSHA, PSM, EPA, DOT, NIOSH, ANSI, NFPA, Workers' Compensation), inspection procedures, audits, hazard reviews, incident prevention, incident investigation techniques, and safety and environmental education and training.

  • Ability to collaborate with all levels of the organization and act as an effective advisor across a variety of EHS concerns and issues.

  • Regular travel is required; Support of the Bakersfield, CA site requires travel one week per every 4-8 weeks. The number of employees at the locations is approximately 100 total.
