Known for its agility in delivering aviation and logistics support in remote and contested environments, BAI operates missions worldwide involving CASEVAC, ISR, passenger and cargo airlift, and maintenance support.

Position Summary:

The Senior Director of Business Development & Capture plays a dual role as a strategic growth leader and hands-on capture executive. This position is responsible for shaping and executing Berry Aviation's growth strategy across federal aviation markets, identifying and qualifying high-value opportunities, and directly managing captures for priority pursuits. The role requires a blend of executive vision, tactical execution, and deep knowledge of government aviation services and federal acquisition practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Business Development Leadership:

  • Develop and lead multi-year business development strategies in alignment with Berry Aviation's long-term growth goals.
  • Build and maintain senior-level relationships with key government stakeholders in AFSOC, SOCOM, AFRICOM, CENTCOM, and USTRANSCOM.
  • Maintain a dynamic pipeline of qualified opportunities in aviation, CASEVAC, ISR, and airlift/logistics contracts in austere environments.
  • Represent Berry Aviation at industry events, conferences, and government forums to promote capabilities and gather market intelligence.

Capture Management:

  • Serve as Capture Lead for high-priority pursuits (typically >$30M), managing full life cycle from qualification through proposal submission.
  • Develop detailed capture plans including win themes, competitive assessments, pricing strategies, and teaming arrangements.
  • Lead gate reviews, color team reviews, and solution sessions to drive high-quality, compliant, and compelling proposals.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (Operations, Contracts, Finance, Legal) and external partners to ensure executable, value-driven offers.

Organizational Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Mentor and lead cross-functional teams including BD managers, capture leads, proposal staff, and subject matter experts.
  • Advise executive leadership on strategic positioning, market trends, and investment priorities.
  • Foster a high-performance culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement in BD and capture execution.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in federal business development, capture management, or program management within the defense aviation or government services sector.
  • Demonstrated success leading and winning multiple $30M+ federal pursuits, ideally in expeditionary aviation or logistics.
  • Strong understanding of FAR/DFARS, DoD acquisition processes, and government contracting best practices.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, proposal development, and negotiation skills.
  • Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain one.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Shipley or equivalent capture management certification.
  • Experience supporting operations in non-permissive/austere environments.
  • Familiarity with aviation regulatory frameworks, STC processes, or OCONUS aviation operations.
  • Military service or experience working directly with SOCOM, AFSOC, or other combatant command
