Description

Position Summary:

Berry Aviation, Inc. seeks a battle-tested, highly disciplined leader to serve as Director of Business Development for our Enhanced Mobility and Special Mission Programs. This role demands the mindset and mission-focus of a senior enlisted operational asset or senior NCO-someone who leads from the front, meets the demands of the job, requires little oversight, adapts without complaint, and pursues the objective with resolve and professionalism.

The ideal candidate will be a trusted force multiplier, equally comfortable in strategic planning sessions and tactical engagements, with credibility and the ability to properly engage senior military officers, staff planners, and operational leaders across the joint force. This position requires a balance of strategic vision, practical execution, and the kind of relentless follow-through found in the finest senior enlisted leaders/officers of the services and Joint SOF communities.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Lead business development across the Geographic Combatant Commands, USTRANSCOM, and USSOCOM, service components, and U.S. government partners for air mobility, austere transport, and special mission aviation.
  • Operate with mission-first discipline to shape, pursue, and win new contracts, including both open competitions and sole-source/strategic opportunities.
  • Serve as capture lead for priority pursuits: develop win strategies, coordinate with internal/external teams, write and review proposal content, and build compliant, compelling bids, responses to RFI's and other submission packages as needed.
  • Develop briefing materials and PowerPoint decks that clearly communicate Berry Aviation's value to decision-makers-professional, concise, and mission-relevant.
  • Actively manage and mentor subordinate BD team members, instilling the values of discipline, integrity, initiative, and loyalty.
  • Build enduring relationships with commanders, contracting officers, and strategic partners through trust, responsiveness, and quiet professionalism.

Travel as needed (domestic and international), maintaining a command presence in every engagement, whether at the Pentagon, a deployed location, or a partner's boardroom.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's or Joint SOF/Service PME equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in aviation, special operations, air mobility, or related government contract environments.
  • Background as a senior enlisted leader (E-8/E-9 or equivalent) or field grade officer, senior DoD civilian with deep exposure to joint operations, mobility planning, and OCONUS logistics.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead high-stakes capture efforts and proposal teams under tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional communication skills with an emphasis on effectively briefing 0-6 Commanders, general/flag officers, SESs, and corporate executives. The ability to connect at the team level and tactical echelon.
  • Proficiency in MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and CRM systems; ability to write and present effectively.
  • Familiarity with GSA FedSim, OTAs, IDIQs, and FAR-based opportunities.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Respected network and deep understanding of aviation and expeditionary operations within respective service, COCOM, USSOCOM, JSOC, AMC, ACC, AFSOC, NAVSPECWAR, or service component staffs.
  • Experience with civil-military aviation operations in contested or austere environments.
  • Recognized for leadership under pressure, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver results with minimal supervision. Must be able to translate operational needs into industry deliverable requirements.
  • Brings a mindset of "service before self," adaptive leadership, and unwavering accountability-hallmarks of top-tier enlisted/service professionals.
