Position Overview: The Machine Operator is responsible for the setup, adjustment, troubleshooting, and operation of various automated machine centers. |
Position Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
- Perform a variety of manufacturing functions including machine operation, assembly, troubleshooting, inspection, testing, and packing of products.
- Perform material handling using equipment such as pallet jacks, carts, and hand trucks.
- Responsible for all quality policies and procedures (paperwork, documentation, NCRM, etc.).
- Responsible for meeting production goals and targets as directed by lead and or leadership.
- Continued cross-training into other work centers and/or machines as directed by lead or leadership.
- Monitor all phases of manufacturing and ensure efficient use of equipment & materials throughout the process.
- Review existing documents, processes and/or methods to improve processes and share with leads and leadership.
- Continued personal development through ADP, offsite, and onsite classes.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area. Wear required PPE. Perform duties in a safe manner and observe safety procedures. Ensure full adherence to 6S (Safety, Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) practices.
- Conduct behavioral based safety observations.
- Training of other team members.
- Adherence to the RWC attendance policy and demonstrated contribution to the team with regard to vacation, emergency, and overtime coverage.
- Demonstrated high mechanical aptitude and the proper use hand of tools without supervision or instruction.
- Demonstrated use of geometric and trigonometric math computations.
- Demonstrated use of advanced measuring equipment such as: tooling scopes, CMMs, shadowgraphs, dial indicators, drop gages, bore mics, etc.
- Demonstrated understanding of: materials, process, tooling, cost, cycle time, drawings, EDs, product specifications, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure. EG: Run multiple machine centers simultaneously while maintaining all other job functions.
- Execute equipment, tooling, and product validation protocols and provide supporting technical reports to management, quality, and/or maintenance.
- Execute advanced troubleshooting skills to maintain/balance work center productivity, tool life, and equipment reliability.
- Review, create, and/or modify standard work instructions as part of a collaborative team of: operators, technicians, engineers, or leadership.
- Work with quality and maintenance departments to ensure all equipment is within calibration requirements and functioning correctly.
- Work with leadership and buyer/planner to schedule startups, product changes, and cleanings.
- Responsible for lead coverage and responsibilities in the event of vacation and/or emergencies.
- Accurately execute SAP material movements and assist with inventory error investigation.
- Other duties as assigned and/or the additional responsibilities, skills, and abilities listed in the addendum for the specific machine center.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Expertise:
- Good organization skills and math skills.
- Strong accuracy and attention to detail.
- Team player with excellent interpersonal, relationship building, and dispute resolution skills.
- Good working knowledge of scanners and their programs
- Proven communication ability both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to read and understand work instructions and perform basic math computations.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to learn all primary and secondary department processes.
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to properly use hand tools with minimal supervision or instruction.
- Ability to work independently and multitask with a wide variety of activities.
- Ability to use precision measurement devices such as calipers, micrometers, etc.
- Forklift certified.
- One year or more as an "Gnutti Operator Trainee" or equivalent experience/education.
- CNC experience is preferred.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands:
- This position will be in a manufacturing environment.
- Must be available to work any shift, weekends, and/or overtime as required
- Be able to lift 50 pounds consistently.
- Ability to stand for up to 12 hours.
- Routinely walk, stand, bend, stoop, and twist.
