VTG is looking for a Technical Writer/Editor in Chantilly VA.


What will you do?

The Technical Writer/Editor is responsible for transforming complex technical and operational information into clear, concise, and engaging content tailored for both technical and non-technical audiences. Acting as a communications and information specialist, this role gathers data from subject matter experts and other sources to produce a variety of written materials, including reports, manuals, articles, and presentations. The writer/editor ensures accuracy, consistency, and clarity while maintaining alignment with organizational standards and goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Translate complex technical and operational concepts into user-friendly documentation and communications.
  • Develop, write, and edit content including reports, manuals, white papers, briefings, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and articles.
  • Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and program staff to gather and verify information.
  • Ensure all content is clear, consistent, accurate, and appropriately tailored to target audiences.
  • Edit documents for grammar, clarity, formatting, and compliance with branding and style guides.
  • Organize and structure information logically to support user understanding and retention.
  • Manage multiple writing and editing projects with tight deadlines.
  • Support the development of communication materials for internal and external stakeholders, including multimedia content if needed.

Do you have what it takes?

Required Qualifications:

  • TS/SCI with Poly required.
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Experience in technical writing/editing or communications, preferably in a technical or government environment.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with content development tools (e.g., Adobe Acrobat, SharePoint, Confluence).
  • Strong organizational and research skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
