Job Summary

UW Health in northern Illinois seeks a BE/BC Outpatient Gastroenterologist to join our growing team in Rockford, IL. This is an exciting opportunity to help build and expand a leading digestive health program, backed by the resources of a premier academic health system. Our primary market serves a population of 350,000, with a secondary market exceeding 750,000, creating a strong demand for expert GI care. Your clinical support includes the following:



  • Opportunity to shape and grow a dynamic digestive health program to support a rapidly expanding community need.
  • Quaternary support from UW Health's University Hospital in Madison, WI, with access to weekly tumor boards and clinical trials.
  • Collaboration with a robust primary care network of 140 providers, ensuring a strong referral base and continuity of care.
  • Work alongside a comprehensive interdisciplinary cancer team at the UW Health | Carbone Cancer Center Rockford, which holds over 70% of the local market share.
  • Local teaching opportunities involving rotating GI residents, fellows, and medical students.
  • State-of-the-art facilities equipped with the latest diagnostic and therapeutic technologies.
  • EPIC EMR for streamlined patient care coordination.


Education



  • MD or DO - Required


License/Certifications



  • Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire - Required
  • Active Illinois medical license - Required
  • Board Certification or Board Eligible in Endocrinology. Board certification must be obtained within 5 years - Required
  • Bi-annual CPR certification - Preferred
