The Accounts Payable Officer is responsible for all aspects of Accounts Payable for the Company, and its affiliates including expenditure controls and processes. Performs most assigned tasks independently, with moderate supervision.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for all aspects of the Accounts Payable computer software including usage, maintenance and updating. Ensures accurate and timely payment of invoices whether by check or ACH while adhering to internal control procedures and Company policies throughout the accounts payable process.
- Determines and accurately records and posts expenses to general ledgers (including allocations of multi-branch expense invoices). Performs some variance analysis at month end.
- Prepares general ledger account reconciliations as assigned.
- Verifies, posts, and processes employee expense reimbursements and corporate credit cards.
- Makes recommendations and analysis of vendors to management to determine best pricing in various aspects of expenditures and cost control.
- Reviews data contained in the general ledger, unit reports, and various sub-systems to ensure accuracy and reasonableness of recorded financial transactions; researches questions regarding general ledger information from various personnel.
- Completes required training associated with job functions.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Associates degree in accounting preferred
- 2+ years of accounts payable experience preferred
Skills:
- Understanding of basic accounting.
- High level of interpersonal skills so as to effectively communicate accounting issues to employees, management and outside vendors.
- Good analytical skills in order to analyze financial and procedural data.
- Must be detail oriented and highly organized.
- Adequate knowledge of internal policies and procedures and any respective laws or regulations governing departmental functions to ensure performance of individual job duties within the proper control environment.
