Summary Description: Capital Engineers are responsible for managing and overseeing large-scale projects and capital investments aimed at improving and/or expanding mill operations. This role involves planning, designing, and executing projects related to equipment upgrades, facility enhancements, and process improvements. Capital Engineers work closely with other engineering teams, contractors, and vendors, conducting feasibility studies, preparing cost estimates, and managing project progress.

Qualifications

Key Accountabilities:

  • Build and lead effective project teams
  • Manage and develop capital projects while aligning objectives with business goals.
  • Provide engineering expertise to accomplish technical reviews and develop sound proposals.
  • Effectively communicate and plan projects with suppliers, contractors, and internal customers.
  • Coordinate construction resources to efficiently implement and startup projects.
  • Manage multiple projects from conception through completion.
  • Provide direction and oversight to contract engineering.
  • Be an advocate of national and local codes, mill specifications, and documentation systems.
  • Provide engineering and technical support to mill operations and maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot chronic issues and support Root Cause Failure Analysis.
  • Provide Maintenance leadership support during outages and weekends
Personal qualities

Minimum Required Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related field.
  • 0-3 years of experience as a mechanical engineer
  • Can demonstrate effective interpersonal, analytical and technical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems, lead change and drive improvement
  • Familiarity with multiple disciplines: Electrical, Civil, Instrumentation, Process
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluent in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.) and MS Project
  • Must be legally authorized to work permanently in the United States

Preferred Skills:

  • Demonstrated Leadership Skills
  • Industrial / Construction Work Experience
  • Piping, Pumping, and Rotating Equipment Experience
  • Project Management Experience
