GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

To set up, operate or program various types of machines for production of piece parts for shelters to achieve quality and integrity of products at the lowest possible cost.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



  • Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs to manufacture parts according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Interpret technical blueprints, CAD models, and job orders to determine dimensions, tolerances, and machine sequences.
  • Set up, operate, and adjust CNC machines as needed to validate programming and ensure parts meet quality standards.
  • Conduct test runs to verify program accuracy, adjust as necessary, and implement corrections to improve efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to programming, tooling, or equipment performance.
  • Lead/Collaborate with engineers, machinists, and production teams to improve manufacturing processes and reduce production times.
  • Maintain and update programming files and documentation, ensuring easy access for future reference.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in CNC programming and machining technologies.
  • Works closely with Supervisor and Inspection to maintain quality and reduce lost time and repairs.


  • Exercises judgment to devise ways to simplify and improve methods and procedures wherever possible.
  • Check daily timecards to ensure proper time is recorded on each job.
  • Responsible for company tool checkout for departmental use. Ensure necessary materials, tools and equipment are available.
  • Responsible for the observation of safe plant practices in assigned areas.
  • Oversees CNC Programming for the Team
  • Monitor Junior Programmers
  • Performs other related duties and assignments as required.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position does not require supervisory responsibilities.

Required Experience:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards.

Ability to adhere to workplace rules.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; associateis degree in manufacturing, engineering, or related field preferred.

Experience: Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in CNC programming in a manufacturing or machining environment.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency with CNC programming software (e.g., Mastercam, GibbsCAM).

Strong knowledge of CAD/CAM software and G-code programming.

Experience with Haas, Fadal, Anderson, Onsrud.

Skills:

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings

Strong mathematical skills and mechanical aptitude

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work

Effective communication and teamwork skills

WORK ENVIROMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Shop Floor environment / shared workbench or workstation.

Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.

Ability to perform repetitive motion (rotating wrists, keyboarding, using small/large tools).

Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

Ability to tolerate constant noise (machine motors large fans).

Ability to work safely in the presence of hazardous chemicals and hazardous conditions.

Ability to follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
