Overview
Provides actionable legal advice and guidance to VNS Health and its affiliates with regard to the legal implications and considerations of current or prospective programs, services, agreements and/or contracts; reviews official correspondence and records to ensure legal compliance; determines legal impact of statutory and regulatory requirements and developments; and acts as liaison with outside counsel. Works under general direction.

What You Will Do
Provides counsel on a range of legal issues affecting the operations of VNS Health. Identifies and analyzes commercial and healthcare issues, drafts/negotiates key documents, presents actionable recommendations, and assures compliance with applicable laws. Provides support to other members of the Legal team on both provider and health plan matters. Counsels staff on member, patient, and care-delivery issues; advises with respect to matters of member enrollment/disenrollment, patient admission/discharge, and difficult-to-serve patients/members. Ensures that contracts by which VNS Health is, or will be, legally bound accurately reflect VNS Health's objectives. Negotiates, drafts and reviews contracts for IT, clinical services and health plan-provider arrangements. Keeps abreast of the legal impact of legislative and regulatory developments affecting the policies and operations of VNS Health. Delineates and advises on the appropriate roles and interactions of the component corporations within the VNS Health family of corporations. Assists and advises with respect to corporate transactions and related legal and regulatory issues. Advises on legal issues and associated implications relating to specialized or new programs, models of care, or lines of business such as population health, behavioral health, regional expansion of existing programs and new clinical partnerships Interacts with outside legal counsel and internal Legal, Risk and Compliance staff. Provides clear legal guidance to business teams by liaising directly with business leaders; operates under general direction .
Qualifications
Licenses and Certifications:
- Current registration to practice law in New York State required
Education:
Work Experience:
- Minimum of three years of experience in New York and Federal health care law and contract drafting and negotiating required
- Demonstrated strong inter-personal skills required
- Health care experience in a law firm setting, preferred
Pay Range
USD $122,300.00 - USD $164,000.00 /Yr.
