Senior Manager, Systems Engineering - with TS/SCI clearance

*This is a customer-facing role and will require you to be on-site on Northern Virginia. This is NOT a remote position.*

Salesforce is seeking an Engineering Leader to join the Build and Automation organization! Working closely with counterparts in the Infrastructure and R&D organizations, this organization provides a team of engineers responsible for building industry leading software - like CRM, Data Cloud, and Agentforce - for our sponsoring customer. As the leader of the Build and Automation organization, your team leads efforts to expand the offerings available to our customers by building features and services into our existing platform. In addition, your team is responsible for both "away team" functions, where your team works with commercial partners to improve their existing offerings to work in restricted environments, and craft custom solutions to work - solving unique problems in scalable and repeatable ways. Your team acts as technical mentors to less experienced engineers on the broader team, helping to grow and develop engineers across the entire program.

PLEASE NOTE: Qualification for this job is contingent upon acceptable results from a background investigation as well as your having and maintaining the specific level of U.S. government background investigation and clearance required for this role.

*Senior Manager, Systems Engineering*

For build activities occurring in restricted regions act as coordinator between the build engineers and the commercially led service teams who own and operate services.
Ability to operate in the fast paced environment and solve sophisticated issues quickly optimally prioritize multiple priorities
Ensuring that work carried out by the Build and Automation team is executed in such a way as to align with the company's internal compliance policy and directives
Being available to discuss and resolve technical issues and customer concerns with other technical staff as the need arises.
Problem Management - populate and participate in RCAs and hand them off to the Global Solutions team
Identifying work opportunities and preparing or assisting with the preparation of technical proposals as the need arises.
Work to automate detection and resolution of recurring build issues in the restricted environment

Minimum Requirements:
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph required
  • A related 4-year technical degree or equivalent work experience required
  • 4+ year proven experience managing a team of developers or engineers operating in a restricted environment.
  • Systems engineering experience in enterprise scale internet service engineering or support role
  • Mentoring/training systems engineers and systems development engineers
  • Proven experience in culture setting for larger organizations - being able to influence change across multiple teams and disciplines - including those teams without experience working in restricted environments
  • Program and product management skills - track record of delivering technical programs, projects, and products in a highly technical multi-team environment
  • Systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)
  • Leading development life cycle processes and best practices, esp. in the areas of deployment automation
  • Experience working within the Intelligence Community (IC) OR Department of Defense (DOD) environments
Preferred Qualifications:
  • BS or higher degree preferred in Computer Science plus relevant job-related experience
  • Expertise in Kubernetes based deployments and Kubernetes based development.
  • Hands on experience configuring and running AWS (Amazon Web Services), using the CLI/SDKs
  • Experience in Docker orchestration and management.
  • Ability to analyze and leverage data and metrics driven focus, both qualitative and quantitative.
  • Experience working within both the Intelligence Community (IC) and Department of Defense (DOD) environments
  • Experience with distributed systems at scale

Qualification for this job is contingent upon acceptable results from a background investigation as well as your obtaining and maintaining the specific level of U.S. Government security clearance required for this role. U.S. citizenship (U.S. born or naturalized) required.
