Potomac State College (WVU Keyser), part of the West Virginia University system of campuses, located in Keyser, WV is seeking applications for an Assistant Athletic Director for External Relations. About the Opportunity The Assistant Athletic Director for External Relations reports to the Director of Athletics and is responsible for directing, planning, coordinating and implementing all external relations aspects of Intercollegiate Athletic Department - including, but not limited to marketing, promotions, communications/media plans, and initiatives for the athletic department. What you'll do:
- Oversees the Athletic Department's strategic communications efforts, including public relations, athletic communications, social media and the athletics website
- Will direct and implement elements of chosen initiatives and ensure a cohesive approach to brand awareness
- Oversee all aspects of marketing and promotions plan for athletic events with a focus on increasing attendance at games and events
- Will direct and supervise staff to plan, create, execute and be responsible for promotional activities, in-game assets, video streaming, live stats, content/operations, the general in-game environment and foster increased fan interaction resulting in an enhanced in-game experience.
- Write, edit and design all publications/content for the Athletic Department.
- Coordinate with the Director of Athletics on all fundraising initiatives and management of associated marketing/media initiatives to meet goals
- Collaborate with administrative staff, coaches and College Departments (including Student Affairs, Marketing & Communications, Advancement, and Alumni Relations) in developing and implementing plans and initiatives
- Assist with game management for home events
- Manage game day operations staff (student workers and contractors)
- Responsible for intercollegiate athletics program reporting requirements to NJCAA and Region 20 and other sport and coach affiliated organizations (i.e. rosters, schedules, statistical data, etc.)
- Review and nominate student-athletes, coaches and administrators for annual awards
- Manage social media content for the Athletic Department and oversee individual sport content to ensure compliance
- Contributes to the overall success of the intercollegiate athletics program by performing all other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
- Job does require work on nights and weekends according to the home event schedules.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience working in a collegiate athletic department
- Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
- All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Practical, working knowledge of NJCAA rules and regulations
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are required
- Management and organizational skills are required
- Ability to compile data and prepare, write, and review reports is required
- Must have excellent computer skills with a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, StatCrew, Front Rush and SIDEARM Sports, BlueFrame video streaming software, and video editing software
- Must have excellent social media skills and ability to use a wide variety of platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree
- Coaching or playing at the collegiate level
- One year of oversight of external relations, athletic communications or sports information departments
Requirements
- Valid driver's license
- First Aid & CPR Certification preferred
