POSITION SPECIFICS

The Sexual Assault Forensic Examination Telehealth System (SAFE-T), a novel nurse-led telehealth program housed within Penn State's Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing, is seeking a Research Project Manager to organize and drive analysis and dissemination of SAFE-T research findings.

Established in 2016, the Sexual Assault Forensic Examination Telehealth System connects rural and underserved communities to expert Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANEs) for live telehealth support during forensic examinations. Our program has conducted over 400 telehealth-supported forensic exams in the past 8 years and continues to expand regionally and nationally.

The Research Project Manager will play a vital role in SAFE-T's mission by working to advance SAFE-T Center research. This will involve dissemination and contributing to the successful administration of a longitudinal, NIH-funded research to study the impact of quality telehealth sexual assault care on adolescent health and well-being.

The Research Project Manager will lead strategic coordination and execution of SAFE-T research initiatives, serving as a key liaison between the Principal Investigator (PI), Research Associate (RA), and external partners. This role encompasses comprehensive project leadership across two core domains: (1) autonomous management of multi-phase research studies, and (2) strategic oversight of data management and collection frameworks.

More specific responsibilities of the Research Project Manager include, but are not limited to:

Strategic Project Leadership

  • Direct end-to-end project lifecycle management, establishing timelines, milestones, and deliverable frameworks, including proactive monitoring systems to identify and escalate potential issues

  • Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with SAFE-T sites, driving ongoing data collection, multidisciplinary collaboration and decision-making processes

  • Develop standardized operating procedures and technical documentation

  • Lead special projects and cross-departmental collaborations as priorities evolve

Research Operations & Compliance

  • Ensure comprehensive adherence to Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocols, federal compliance standards, and data security frameworks

  • Lead IRB protocol development, modifications, and continuing review processes

  • Establish and maintain robust data governance systems encompassing collection, validation, and reporting infrastructures

  • Design and implement quality assurance protocols for data integrity

  • Contribute to the broader research strategy through independent analysis and recommendations

Research Dissemination & Communication

  • Support manuscript development, grant proposal preparation, and literature synthesis efforts

  • Oversee conference submissions and award tracking processes

  • Develop compelling visual communications for research dissemination across multiple platforms

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record of leading complex research and evaluation projects from start to finish, with the ability to quickly learn new programs and master SAFE-T Center objectives.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in evidence-based intervention program development and implementation; deep understanding of research landscapes related to sexual assault, trauma, and interpersonal violence; and background in sensitive population research with demonstrated cultural competency and ethical awareness.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders while driving projects forward and independently coordinating information from diverse sources

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, collaboration, and adaptability skills

  • Proven organizational leadership with the flexibility to work both independently and collaboratively

Additional valued qualifications include experience navigating complex regulatory environments (IRB, federal compliance), track record of successful grant management and reporting, and proven ability to translate research findings into actionable insights and compelling communications.
