The Physical Security Lead, Harding Street position directly supports the Indiana Security organization for all ongoing activities that serve to provide appropriate physical access to, and protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of AES employees and business information in compliance with organization policies, procedures and regulatory requirements including NERC's Cyber Security Standards.

Specifically, this position is responsible for handling and coordinating the design, implementation and maintenance of Physical Access Control System (PACS), Video Surveillance, and Motion Detection systems that support the NERC CIP (Critical Infrastructure Protection) programs and business environment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The candidate must have a strong working knowledge of PACS and Video Surveillance systems. A general working knowledge of computer networking concepts is required. In addition, the primary duties and responsibilities include:

  • Identifies and implements all security needs as they specifically relate to the protection of property, materials and facilities against unauthorized entry, trespass, pilferage, vandalism, theft, internal destruction, damage or threat, sabotage, work stoppage, embezzlement, fraud, civil disturbance, or any other dishonest, illegal or criminal act

  • Develops and recommends plans, procedures, and programs to prevent loss or damage to property and persons, interruptions to service and business functions, and for meeting the Company's other security needs; participates and coordinates the implementation of such plans; recommends new protection measures and revisions to existing measures as necessary to assure continuous security control

  • Leads the daily operational work activities for the contract security guards

  • Coordinates all security processes with the Safety Training Program during planned outages and new personnel onboarding

  • Makes recommendations for the recruiting, selection and placement of Company and contract security guard forces

  • Develops Physical Security policies, procedures and plans for corporate and generation facilities and coordinates their enforcement

  • Investigates thefts of Company and contractors' property; investigates cases of embezzlement, fraud, sabotage, subversive activities, and other unlawful acts which result in loss or damage to Company, contractors' or personal property of employees on the job; provides for surveillance, as required, for detection of security violations

  • Studies and makes recommendations related to physical security techniques and procedures used to control theft, sabotage, and work stoppage activities including programs for employees and visitor identification

  • Maintains contact and coordinates Company security activities with federal, state, county and local law enforcement agencies

  • Prepares, maintains and distributes written security procedures and manuals

  • Work with vendors, application developers, database administrators, corporate IT, and other technology groups to resolve problems.

  • Participate in disaster recovery planning, development, exercises, and actual events.

  • Process TWIC applications as an authorized TWIC Agent and participate in program administration

  • The candidate must be able to communicate effectively with internal and external customers and respond to requests for supporting information.

  • Other duties as assigned

A background check will be conducted on the incumbent every seven years.

Additionally, the incumbent will be required to complete annual NERC and other compliance training.

Qualifications

This position will require excellent problem solving and decision-making skills, the ability to work effectively with management personnel, minimal supervision, and the ability to perform duties effectively under emergency situations. The candidate must possess competency and a minimum of three (3) years' experience; preferably in the following security related areas: Security, Law Enforcement, the Energy or Utility industry, experience supporting a real-time critical business operations environment, experience supporting systems subject to regulatory compliance requirements.
Project management and budget management experience is preferred.
An associate's degree in Information Systems, Law Enforcement or another related field is helpful.

This is a full-time, on-site position. The primary location is the Harding Street plant in Indianapolis, Indiana.
