About the Role

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (AJC) is on an exciting journey to transform a storied, 156-year-old newspaper into the most essential and engaging digital news source for Atlanta, Georgia, and the South. As part of this mission, we are seeking a QA Engineer II to join our high-performing software engineering team.

In this role, you will collaborate with developers, product managers, and designers within an Agile pod structure to ensure high-quality digital product releases across web and mobile platforms. You'll play a critical part in building innovative media experiences that meet the highest standards for performance and usability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, execute, and maintain manual and automated test plans, test cases, and scripts for functional, regression, and exploratory testing
  • Collaborate with developers to identify, log, and validate bugs and defect resolutions
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives
  • Advocate for quality assurance best practices and a culture of continuous improvement
  • Implement and maintain automated testing frameworks to improve test coverage and deployment speed
  • Ensure cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility through modern testing approaches
  • Provide feedback and insight that helps shape the product from a user-centric perspective


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and 2+ years of relevant QA or software testing experience; alternatively, a master's degree with up to 2 years of experience, or 6 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
  • Experience testing web and/or mobile applications in Agile development environments
  • Proficiency with QA tools such as Jira, TestRail, or Zephyr
  • Experience with test automation frameworks such as Selenium or Cypress
  • Familiarity with API testing tools such as Postman
  • Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Strong knowledge of modern testing standards and practices
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and organizational abilities
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
  • Proactive mindset with a passion for continuous learning and improvement

USD 65,500.00 - 98,300.00 per year

Compensation:

Compensation includes a base salary of $65,500.00 - $98,300.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

Benefits:

The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company's needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
