The Senior Director is responsible for providing leadership and strategic endeavors to drive the information systems and technology infrastructure, innovation and digital transformation efforts for Student Health. The Senior Director plays a critical role in ensuring secure, efficient, and scalable technology solutions across the organization. The Senior Director will be responsible for overseeing the Student Health IS team, managing technology projects, and ensuring that all IS operations align with the organization's goals and regulatory requirements. The Senior Director collaborates closely with other leaders within Keck, Student Health, and University ITS to accomplish measurable improvements to business processes and objectives while directing the design, development and implementation of IT standards and tools assuring alignment with the organization's strategic vision and plans. The Senior Director establishes and upholds compliance with all policies and standards. Manages information systems for a school or administrative or auxiliary department. Oversees staff and operations involved in systems analysis and applications programming, systems programming, technical planning, data administration and security, hardware support and maintenance, documentation, computer and auxiliary operations, client services and training, and quality assurance. Brings specific technical expertise to functions supervised for a hardware/programming-software model and/or cloud services model. Has responsibility for staff supervision, budget development and administration, department short and long term planning, system configuration, vendor management, customer service and satisfaction, and quality assurance. Essential Duties:
- Develops and executes a comprehensive IT strategy aligned with the organization's vision, goals, and healthcare industry regulations. Provides leadership and direction for the IS department in the implementation of projects and systems that drive business growth, patient care, and operational efficiency.
- Leads, mentors, and develops a high-performing IS team, providing guidance and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. Oversees resource allocation, staffing, and performance evaluations for IS personnel. Counsels and/or disciplines as needed.
- Sets departmental goals and objectives and communicates to staff. Reassesses or redefines priorities as appropriate in order to achieve performance objectives.
- Drives the planning and administration of departmental and project budgets.
- Advises leadership regarding information systems requirements in a hardware/programming-software model and/or cloud services model. Facilitates planning and directs the design, installation, modification and operations of department information systems.
- Evaluates vendor proposals for system upgrades and configuration changes and/or purchases of hardware, software and technical services to assure adherence to specifications. Analyzes proposed projects for feasibility.
- Prepares long and short range plans for applications selection, systems configuration and/or development, systems maintenance, production activities and for necessary support resources, coordinating area efforts with university-wide efforts.
- Reviews and prioritizes systems development and/or system configuration requests. Provides oversight for and/or prepares cost estimates for current and proposed projects, reflecting staff and equipment requirements. Develops project specifications. Plans and coordinates project schedules and related activities. Directs programming, testing, installation, debugging and documentation of systems developments and/or enhancements.
- Plans and implements necessary controls and procedures to protect systems and data from modification, disclosure or destruction. Controls the integrity of data bases by monitoring incoming data and transactions.
- Ensures all information systems products meet standards and user requirements.
- Oversees the testing of software and hardware and assists with monitoring and resolving problems.
- Oversees the development and maintenance of systems, programming and operations documentation.
- Drives innovation by evaluating emerging technologies and recommending new solutions to enhance patient care, operational efficiency, and overall organizational performance. Champions the adoption of digital health tools, electronic health records (EHR) systems, telemedicine platforms, and other transformative technologies.
- Networks with professional counterparts inside and outside the university. Participates in professional associations to stay informed of new developments in field and technology changes. Makes recommendations to leadership regarding technology changes based on developments in field and business needs.
- Ensure that the organization's IT systems comply with healthcare industry standards such as HIPAA, HITECH, and other relevant laws and regulations. In partnership with Keck HIT and university ITS, leads the efforts to safeguard patient data and other sensitive information from cybersecurity threats through proactive security measures, audits, and incident response plans.
- Serve as a member of the Student Health Executive Committee.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Req Bachelor's Degree Degree in related field.
- Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education.
- Req 8 years Related experience.
- Req Direct relevant experience administering comparable information systems to be able to provide technical direction to systems development and support staff.
- Req Supervisory and budget experience.
- Req Organization/time management skills.
- Req Demonstrates ability to utilize effective, appropriate and diplomatic oral and written communication skills.
- Req Excellent analytical, problem-solving, planning and evaluation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Pref Master's degree In Computer Science, Healthcare, or Business field.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only).
The annual base salary range for this position is $158,080.00 - $260,832.00.
