Ellumen is seeking an Operations Engineer to support the Department of Defense's Infrastructure Line of Business (IFLOB) mission at the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). This role focuses on implementing, maintaining, and optimizing hybrid cloud infrastructure in a highly secure and mission-critical environment.

The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and experienced in network operations, hybrid cloud systems, and infrastructure sustainment within a government environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be part of a team that Provides round-the-clock monitoring and support for hybrid cloud infrastructure.
  • Resolve connectivity and client service issues; manage incident tickets and escalations.
  • Monitor infrastructure capacity and performance; diagnose system problems.
  • Coordinate and document shift turnover activities and incident reporting.
  • Perform trend analysis, recommend system improvements, and develop metrics for performance and defect tracking.
  • Work RMAs and maintain incident reports per DISA processes.
  • Respond to incidents within 15 minutes and escalate critical issues immediately.
  • Generate daily, weekly, and monthly status and system reports.
  • Manage patching, software/hardware updates, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Maintain device OS, perform backup/recovery, and conduct annual failover testing.
  • Assess, test, and implement system changes in line with the DoD Release Management Plan and Configuration Management (CM) policies.
  • Document security violations/incidents and ensure compliance with DISA standards.
  • Support customer service requests, technical refreshes, system migrations, and certificate management.
  • Integrate new technologies into the hybrid cloud environment and optimize hardware/software infrastructure.
  • Automate manual processes and develop scripts/playbooks for operational efficiency.
  • Work within Configuration Control Board (CCB) processes for all changes.
  • Provide IP and VLAN design and sustainment support.
  • Maintain and submit technical documentation, white papers, SOPs, and implementation guides.

Qualifications:

  • Active Secret Security Clearance
  • IAT Level II Certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, etc.)
  • DoD 8140/8570 Compliant
  • Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments (On-Prem, Private, Commercial, Government).
  • Solid knowledge of:



  1. Networking protocols and security methodologies
  2. Cybersecurity principles, threats, vulnerabilities, and risk management
  3. Cloud service models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and deployment models (private, public, hybrid)
  4. Familiarity with FISMA, NIST, RMF, and DISA STIGs
  5. Strong documentation and communication skills
