Ellumen is seeking a Dedicated Mission Engineer to join our team in support of the Department of Defense's Infrastructure Line of Business (IFLOB) mission at the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). This role focuses on implementation, sustainment, optimization, and operational support of hybrid cloud infrastructure for specific mission partner workloads.
As a Dedicated Mission Engineer, you will serve as a subject matter expert (SME) focused solely on the needs of assigned mission partners such as the Defense Health Agency (DHA), U.S. Army IPPS-A, U.S. Air Force DEAMS, U.S. Space Force GBS, DISA STRATUS (Private Cloud), Zero Day Network Defense (ZND), Secure Cloud Computing Architecture (SCCA), and Web Application Firewall (WAF).
Key Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated, full lifecycle engineering support-architecture, design, configuration, implementation, optimization, and sustainment-of network infrastructure and hybrid cloud solutions.
- Support production, COOP, development, and test environments for mission partner programs.
- Configure and maintain network equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, application gateways, DNS/email security appliances, and virtualization platforms.
- Deliver cloud migration strategy planning and execution, including SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS models in hybrid and private environments.
- Implement and sustain Load Balancer and Firewall operations, including SSL certificate lifecycle management and Web Application Firewall (WAF) security policies.
- Provide technical support for Oracle Super Cluster (where applicable), multicast routing, VPN (GRE/IPSec), and specialized environments (e.g., STRATUS, SCCA BCAP).
- Apply DISA STIGs, FISMA, NIST, RMF, and other federal compliance standards.
- Support system hardening, vulnerability patching, and security event management.
- Maintain detailed infrastructure documentation, configuration baselines, and change management records.
- Deliver regular status reporting: Daily, Weekly, Monthly, and Shift Turnovers.
- Participate in 24/7 or 8x5 with callback schedules, depending on assigned mission partner.
Qualifications
- Security Clearance: Active Secret (must be maintained)
- Certification: IAT Level II (per DoD 8140)
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience accepted.
- 5+ years of experience supporting DoD or enterprise-class network engineering environments.
- Deep knowledge of:
- Networking concepts and protocols
- Cybersecurity principles, threats, and risk mitigation
- Cloud deployment models and service models (SaaS, IaaS, PaaS)
- DoD policies and cyber compliance (FISMA, NIST, RMF, STIGs)
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with hybrid and private cloud solutions (e.g., DISA STRATUS)
- Experience with Oracle Super Cluster, multicast routing, and full motion video (FMV) support
- Proficiency in WAF technologies and BIG-IP modules (LTM, GTM, ASM, APM)
- Strong understanding of IP planning, VLAN design, VPN configuration, and patch lifecycle
- Familiarity with DISA ticketing systems and Configuration Control Board (CCB) processes
