Associates are eligible to apply for a transfer after completion of one (1) year of service in their present position, with the following exception: an Associate who has received a written warning is not eligible for a transfer/promotion prior to six (6) months from date of issuance; an Associate who has been suspended is not eligible for transfer/promotion prior to one (1) year from date of suspension. Probationary period is four (4) months for full-time employees, and six (6) months for part-time employees. The Montefiore Nurse Practitioner (NP) for Colorectal Surgery maintains standards of the practice for nursing as defined by the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics, Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice and Nursing's Social Policy Statement. The NP actualizes the vision, mission, values, and balanced scorecard performance measures for Montefiore Medical Center. Responsibilities include: Participates in performance improvement/research activities; maintains professional practice standards and clinical expertise; and demonstrates leadership skills. Prescribes medications and educates the patient and/or involved others about the drug regimen, interactions and side effects. Demonstrates core and unit specific competencies based on the patient population served. Assess and provide care to a selected group of patients in collaboration with physicians. Carry out the plan of care for his/her patient panel. Education/Skills required: New York State License for a Registered Professional Nurse and current registration or valid permit to practice in New York State as an RN. Current New York State Nurse Practitioner specialty certification and registration. Master's Degree in Nursing required Additional education as required by specialty/patient care location Ability to use data entry and retrieval system Effective English communication skills, both written and oral Preferred skills: National certification in Nurse Practitioner specialty (ie: ANCC, AACP or NAPNAP) preferred. Post Masters Certificate in specialty as a Nurse Practitioner preferred; or a combination of education and experience that is acceptable to N.Y. State Education Department and the Director of Nursing and/or Chairman of the Department, or Division Director. Bilingual Spanish is strongly preferred Bariatric, Colorectal and General Surgery experience preferred Prior work experience as NP preferred Epic EMR experience preferred Previous experience with high volume Surgery and/or private surgical practice highly preferred Detail oriented candidate preferred Location: Moses Campus and Bronx locations Montefiore Medical Center is an equal employment opportunity employer.
