At Central Plateau Cleanup Company (CPCCo), located in Richland, Washington, we are dedicated to providing a sustainable future for the historic Hanford area by protecting the Columbia River and remediating the Central Plateau. Our Sample Management and Reporting team under our Soil & Groundwater Operations organization is seeking an Environmental Science Co-Op (Science Intern). Sample Management and Reporting holds the analytical laboratory contracts for CPCCo and provides projects analytical and data management support. The Co-Op will complete various tasks within SMR/Analytical Services that support data management and contract management processes.

Under direct supervision, the individual will perform job duties that may include, but are not limited to, the following:
*Reviewing groundwater sample paperwork prior to release of the paperwork to the field samplers.
*Data package logins.
*Reviewing and updating laboratories' method detection limits and practical quantitation limits in SampleManagement and Reporting's recommended practical quantitation limits document.
*Assist with LSSR reports
*Assist with requesting case file purges and sample disposal information from laboratories.
*Using HEIS, EDIT, Excel, Access


Required Qualifications


*At least 18 years of age.
*Actively enrolled in a full-time degree program and
*Currently pursuing a degree in Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, Biology or similar discipline.
*Maintain an overall GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) during their college enrollment.
*Currently enrolled with either Washington State University Tri-Cities (WSU-TC), Columbia Basin College (CBC), or any online student living local to the Tri-Cities, WA.
*Students will be sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate status and enrolled full-time, as determined by the institution.
*Willing and able to work 15-40 hours a week on a Monday - Thursday, 6 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. schedule.
*Actively enrolled in a full-time degree program that relates to CPCCo, with emphasis in specific disciplines that support the cleanup mission and aligns with the critical skills and job assignment requirements.


Desired Qualifications


Familiar with Microsoft Office software applications, including Excel and Word.


Compensation & Benefits


Starting rate is based on academic standing and field of degree, ranging from an hourly rate of $20.00 to $26.70 plus an additional $4.93 health & welfare adder in accordance with the Service Contract Act.
