What this job involves - As the HSSE Senior Director, you will play a vital role in overseeing the health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) practices within the Americas Region. Reporting to the Americas HSSE Lead, you will work closely with the Life Sciences vertical leadership and the wider HSSE team to ensure compliance with HSSE policies and regulatory requirements. Your primary objectives will be to collaborate with business partners across the platform, foster a proactive HSSE culture, and ensure the health, safety, and well-being of our employees and subcontractors.

What is the day to day?

  • Provide HSSE expertise as the Vertical Group Lead, overseeing the Life Sciences vertical division and accounts, and supporting HSSE professionals in your remit.
  • Implement the Global HSSE program and ensure alignment with HSSE policies and statutory requirements.
  • Enable compliance with JLL, cultural, client, and statutory requirements by demonstrating leadership in HSSE and applying the JLL HSSE Management System and Standards.
  • Foster an inclusive and energizing environment by serving as the primary point of contact for HSSE requirements and activities, inspiring others to prioritize health, safety, and environmental best practices across all operational sites.
  • Lead the ongoing development and refinement of JLL's HSSE culture and training programs in the vertical, motivating teams to succeed and grow while showing genuine care for their safety and development.
  • Collaborate with the HSSE Life Sciences team to share best practices and deliver the best solutions for JLL, our clients, and the communities we serve.
  • Build trust and strong partnerships with both the JLL account teams and vertical leadership by providing key performance and risk indicators, and by ensuring transparent communication of HSSE needs and results.
  • Support JLL operational staff in achieving compliance and reporting performance against HSSE metrics and key risk and performance indicators set by JLL, the vertical(s), and clients.
  • Implement and maintain a program for training, auditing, measuring, and reporting HSSE performance.
  • Support new business pursuits, account transitions, and account expansions.
  • Promote a positive HSSE culture and influence stakeholders to prioritize health, safety, and environment.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for HSSE support for the vertical.
  • Monitor and communicate HSSE information throughout the vertical, including statistics, lessons learned, campaigns, objectives, and goals, to ensure the organization is prepared for emerging risks and opportunities.
  • Leverage technology and data to drive continuous improvement and future-proof HSSE practices, ensuring the division remains agile and resilient in a changing environment.
  • Champion a positive HSSE culture across the vertical, motivating teams and stakeholders to prioritize health, safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Mentor, develop, and support HSSE professionals and Champions, fostering an environment where people are empowered to grow and contribute to a safer, healthier workplace.
  • Develop plans and priorities to address resource and vertical HSSE challenges, promoting standardization.
  • Drive continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental practices.
  • Up to 25% travel, additional on-site locations available

Desired experience and technical skills

Required

  • Proven experience in HSSE management, including 10+ years of people management.
  • Strong knowledge of HSSE policies, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent leadership skills and the ability to influence and engage stakeholders.
  • Sound understanding of risk management principles.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive results.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Relevant professional certification (CSP, CIH, CHM, CSHM, etc.)
  • Master's degree in relevant field
  • GxP / GMP experience Operations experience in the life sciences industry

Estimated total compensation for this position:

150,000.00 - 200,000.00 USD per year

The total compensation range is an estimate and not guaranteed. An employment offer is based on an applicant's education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity and alignment with market data .
