About the Role:

The Manager - Accounting Policy and Advisory International is a pivotal role that supports the financial integrity and strategic objectives of the organisation. This position offers an exciting opportunity to provide expert accounting policy advice for the international business, particularly on high-risk, complex issues such as mergers, acquisitions, and divestments.

Based out of Houston, this unique Group role provides exposure to many parts of the Woodside business, offering a fantastic opportunity to learn and develop within the organisation. Reporting to the Head of Global Governance at the Group's head office in Perth, Australia, this role is ideal for those looking to make a significant impact and lead initiatives on a global scale.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Key aspects of the role include:

* Lead and deliver key technical accounting projects in accordance with the Group's strategic priorities, including stakeholder management.
* Provide technical accounting advice on the practical application of IFRS to significant risks and issues facing the Group, including growth and expansion activities.
* Provide mentorship and guidance to others within and outside of the GFC team, including coaching finance team members on resolving technical accounting matters.
* Support the Finance leadership team as a trusted advisor to senior management.
* Communicate accounting issues and outcomes with finance and non-finance audiences.
* Prepare and/or review complex technical accounting papers.
* Conduct impact assessments of new/changes to accounting standards/interpretations.
* Develop and maintain Group accounting policies and procedures.
* Manage external audit and accounting advice service provider relationships.
* Conduct contract reviews for accounting red flags.
* Execute SOX controls relating to technical accounting.
* Contribute to Audit and Risk Committee (A&RC) Board papers.

* IFRS Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as the expert and trusted partner in financial accounting, IFRS, and statutory reporting requirements. Focus on complex transactions while coaching others to resolve routine technical accounting issues, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and development.

Desired Qualifications/Experience

* Professional qualification (CA/CPA) or equivalent.
* 15+ years of work experience as a professional in finance/accounting in IFRS.
* Experience providing accounting advice for oil and gas companies under IFRS, including formally documenting accounting positions.
* Experience in a Big 4 CFO advisory team will be highly regarded.
* Experience of SOX
