HVAC Airflow Loop Release Engineer

The HVAC Release Engineer is responsible for the development and validation of the automotive HVAC unit, air exhausters and airflow system performance. The candidate will ensure the HVAC unit and airflow loop components meet performance objectives and will coordinate development with other functional areas such as IP, hard trim, BIW, Aero/Thermal, Engine Cooling, PDO and suppliers. Duties will include writing source packages, specifications, requirements, change notices and overall supplier management to meet program timing and deliverables. The candidate will maintain a component and sub-system DVP&R, support and keep up to date with component bench testing, simulation, drive-cell and static cell test results as well as perform data analysis and establish proper corrective actions as required. Need to lead virtual team to design and perform CFD analysis of HVAC unit, air exhauster and ducts that will meet airflow performance. Candidate will also support pilot build process at the assembly plant for development and installation of HVAC components.

Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related degree field
  • 5 years of overall experience
  • 3 or more years of experience in HVAC design/development or other related design experience (Engine cooling, Aero-Thermal)
  • Strong PC + MS Office skills required. Excellent written, verbal and listening skills along with strong interpersonal skills
  • Self-starter and motivated to produce results
  • Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
  • Experience with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R)
  • Basic thermodynamics knowledge


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master of Science Degree
  • Experience in HVAC, PTC's, ducts and outlets are a plus
  • Experience using CAD software (NX, Catia, etc.)
  • Experience with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS)
  • Basic knowledge in Thermodynamics
  • Automotive assembly plant experience
