POSITION SUMMARY

The Child Care Supervisor is responsible for supporting and overseeing the daily operations of our childcare program, which serves local families, resort guests, and employees' children. Working closely with the Child Care Manager, you'll help ensure high-quality, developmentally appropriate care in a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment. The Child Care Supervisor will support staff performance, curriculum planning, licensing compliance, state and federal legislation, family engagement, and facility standards-balancing hands-on classroom presence with administrative leadership. This is a full-time year-round benefit eligible position. The hourly range for this role is $25.00 - $27.00/hour.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Support the Manager in day-to-day operations including staff supervision, scheduling, and reservations
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and ongoing training of childcare staff
  • Provide mentorship and support on curriculum development, classroom management, and best practices in early childhood education
  • Lead the center during the Manager's absence.=
  • Cover classrooms for teacher planning time and ensure maintenance of state ratios
  • Ensure classroom programming aligns with state standards and supports children's developmental milestones
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to plan, review, and enhance lesson plans and activities
  • Encourage behavior guidance strategies that foster emotional intelligence, social development, and resilience
  • Complete required training hours as defined by the State of Vermont Department of Children and Families and the Child Care Manager
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of state and company childcare regulations
  • Conduct routine compliance checks and monthly safety meetings.
  • Support daily health and safety practices including sanitation, injury prevention, and emergency preparedness
  • Maintain accurate and confidential program and child records
  • Foster open and trusting relationships with families through daily communication and responsiveness to concerns
  • Assist with enrollment, tours, and family onboarding
  • Promote a welcoming environment that reflects the values of the Stratton Mountain Resort community
  • Manage staff timecards, assist with payroll tasks, and create employee schedules
  • Support check-in/check-out processes and reservation systems
  • Assist in monitoring budget targets, supplies, and resource use
  • Participate in strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Additional duties as assigned


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required
  • Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education, required
  • Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education, or related field, preferred
  • Vermont Early Childhood and Afterschool Program Director Step One (1) Certificate, required

Experience:
  • 3 to 5 years experience as a Teacher, Supervisor, or Assistant Director in a licensed child care program
  • 1 to 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role


QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
  • Strong knowledge of child development and curriculum planning.
  • Understanding of state legislation, regulation, policies, procedure and operational requirements that ensure supervision and safety.
  • Excellent leadership, team-building, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organized, reliable, and able to multitask in a dynamic environment.
  • Flexible and collaborative, with a passion for supporting children and families.


TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Occasional travel may be required to attend educational functions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
  • This position will require work during weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to lift 40 (forty) pounds, on a regular and repeating basis
