PREREQUISITES FOR POSITION:

1. Education and Training: Master's degree required in a discipline that corresponds to the areas of teaching aligned with areas of instruction for the Early College Academy.

2. Years of experience in the field: A minimum of two years of full-time experience in an educational environment is required. Background in K-12 and higher education teaching. Academic advising experience preferred.

3. Qualifications to teach two dual enrollment courses a semester in support of the Early College Academy.

4. Special skills or abilities related to the position: Positive human relations skills and ability to communicate effectively; ability to make presentations to small and large groups; organizational and computer skills (particularly Microsoft Office.) Ability to analyze data and write clearly.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide comprehensive support for dual enrollment programming offered through the Early College Academy, including working with Allentown School District leadership on the recruitment and retention of students.

  • Teach introductory Business-related dual enrollment courses (one in the fall semester and one in the spring semester).

  • Organize and make presentations to high school students about the Academy. Meet with potential new students, their parents, and high school counselor(s) to distribute dual enrollment information and respond to questions.

  • Provide new dual enrollment student admissions advising for Early College Academy students. Verify students are placed in appropriate courses to earn high school credit as well as credits toward their college transcript.

  • Assist in the development of short and long-range plans for the retention and persistence of students in the Early College Academy.

  • Develop strategies to enhance and strengthen the outreach to potential students to increase student access to and enrollment in the Early College Academy.

  • Review and update program communications annually; update all marketing materials, forms, letters, and mailers as necessary.

  • Collaborate with district personnel in planning, scheduling, and establishing policies and guidelines appropriate for the Early College Academy.

  • Coordinate and manage the daily operations of the Early College Academy.

  • Develop semester and annual reports for the Early College Academy.

  • Provide follow-up reports each semester on dual enrollment students to the district.

  • Collaborate efforts with the campus' Enrollment Management Department to ensure all admissions-related details, including student applications; allocation of tuition, fees and waivers; recruitment practices; and dual enrollment protocols are handled appropriately and effectively.

  • Assist with other department responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Academic Officer.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree 3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. Penn State does not sponsor or take over sponsorship of a staff employment Visa. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $46,400.00 - $67,300.00.
