Summary:
Performs both administrative and clinical functions to support smooth and efficient clinical service or practice operations, under minimal supervision. Performs administrative duties related to patient visits including scheduling, check-in, check-out duties (performs all duties of the other levels at highest proficiency level). Actual job duties may vary by Department. Essential Functions: -Perform routine administrative and clerical duties relating to a clinical service or physician practice office. Make patient appointments and maintain appointment records. Assist callers with routine inquiries, and schedule appointments. Process patient billing forms and scan documents to patient medical record/LMR. -Acts as "Super User" for scheduling, registration and billing systems. Provides assistance and training to others in these areas. May perform more complex or specialized functions (i.e. surgical scheduling, schedule changes/blocking) at more advanced competency level. -Provides functional guidance to Office and Practice Assistants. -In conjunction with Supervisor oversees daily activities of practice staff. -May be required to accept co-payments. Handles, screens and/or takes messages related to prior authorizations, provider questions, prescription refills, and test results. ABOUT BROOKSIDE COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER: Brookside is a licensed Community Health Center of Brigham and Women's Hospital and provides multi-disciplinary, comprehensive care with services in a range of medical areas including: Adult, Family and Pediatric Primary Care, OB/GYN, Family Planning, Dental/Oral Surgery, Nutrition/WIC, Behavioral Health and Specialty Medicine (Cardiology, Pulmonology and Nephrology). Brookside also has a Laboratory onsite, Financial Counseling and Community Resource Specialists. Each year, more than 11,000 patients from Jamaica Plain, the city of Boston and surrounding areas use these services, producing more than 69,000 visits to Brookside each year. Most of Brookside's patient population are Spanish speaking and socioeconomically underserved. The health center's services, guided by equity, are provided by a bilingualEnglish/Spanish medical and professional staff. Brookside is a teaching site for Harvard Medical School, Mass GeneralInstitute of Health Professionals School of Nursing, Harvard Dental School, Boston University Dental School, as well asother Boston area health care professional programs Education Spanish fluency required Lead experience-preferred This position is 100% onsite, 40 hours with a rotating scheduled days and evenings until 6:30pm - Strong technology and MS Office skills - Advanced Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint Knowledge of office operations and standards and understanding of office procedures including filing, copying, scanning, printing and faxing. - Ability to use phone system and manage more non-routine phone calls and solve routine issues as appropriate. - Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience and talking to others to convey information effectively. - Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents, to correspond and communicate with others clearly and effectively (including composing/editing e-mail, memos and letters), and to take complete and accurate messages. - Managing one's own time and the time of others. - Well organized and good time management skills to manage multiple tasks effectively, follow established protocols, and work within systems. - Ability to proofread and edit written documents.
