Minimum Experience/Education |
Ph.D. in biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience. |
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: |
General understanding of enzyme-based assays, immunoassays, nanomaterial-based biosensors, synthesis of functionalized polymer nanofibers, nanoparticle-based lateral flow immunoassays.
Research and/or development expertise in immunoassays and lateral flow assay technologies.
Hands-on experience in examining and validating bioassays and biosensors.
A team player, motivated, efficient, independent, and the capability to solve problems.
Friendly, articulate, and interested in working in a small team environment.
Experience in statistics and data analysis |
Duties and Responsibilities |
- synthesize, characterize, and evaluate functionalized nanomaterials (nanofibers/nanorods/nanoparticles, etc.) for selectively binding to targeted biomolecules (e.g., disease biomarkers, exposure biomarkers, etc.).
- fabricate nanomaterial-based biosensor devices, optimize, evaluate, validate wearable or portable biosensors for targeted analytes, e.g., proteins, metabolites, pathogens, and others including field testing of the biosensors.
- Analyze data from the biosensors.
- closely work with collaborators.
- publish research results.
- Help write research grants for applying for funding to develop new nanotechnology-based bio-applications including diagnostics, bioimaging, biomonitoring etc.
- communicate regularly and in a timely fashion with the PI regarding research and other issues relevant to the operation of the laboratory.
- assist with the daily operations of the laboratory.
- assist with the supervision of the other junior members of the laboratory
